Spoken like a person from Southern states.The AFL obviously knows that we have the advantage of international competition.
However that advantage which comes around every 4 years hasn't made a lasting impact on football's local popularity as measured by viewership and investmen, despite 6 WC's in a row.
In fact it could be argued its regressed.
AFL, on the other hand goes from strength to strength. They do not fear us.
The game of football has grown massively in the last 30 years, if you can't see that, that is your fault
The recent WC was massive, never seen interest that big, the Matildas are also massive, the Asian cup and Olympics are also followed
The O/S competitions are followed with 80K to 100k attending.
I see more kids with premier league kits than any AFL merch.
Lots of NRL fans and players follow EPL sides.
