Big Ange thread

Good article.

Ange is toast.

I did read that, was a fairly good article but I feel as though football is cyclical.

Right now, pragmatism is winning out. There is no overarching philosophy that makes champions.

Also the players are just not as good as they used to be. Very rarely do you see the unexpected.

Ange can die on his sword. There’s no reason for him not to and he will be handsomely paid.

I'm not sure its that cut and dried about players of today - sure the game keeps evolving - stats and formations are at the forefront how to play your opponent - its harder to break good defences down etc....low blocks, park the bus's. 10 frigging players holding stations - well why not when your facing a far stringer opponent whereas before you got flogged.
You telling me todays class players don't bung it on enough, ala Mbappe/Salah/Saka/Haaland/Kane etc. Lamel !
Those alone do the unexpected in spades.
Mids such as DeBruyne/Pedri/Valverde/MacAllister etc < what class these type of players are against all this chess and checkers formations they still break the lines, by pass's/flicks or dribble through them OR long range worldys.
Backs omg machines today.
Also what level you look at it from I guess as well.
The current WC holders you could say they were the perfectly balanced squad.
Ange's prob in top flight is the cattle/lacking start up players on the bench and noted goal scorers and key midfielders.
Sure he's one trick ponty but so are many coachs imo.
Some are perenial bad luck types, some are just bad communicaters, tight arse employers, bad club culture, so many other reasons.
Success only comes to so so few.

Top answer by Ange. Yes, I think his tactics do exacerbate injuries. However when will these journalists and critics get through their thick skulls that the league was sacrificed to win a different competition? Spurs were on bare bones anyway and there was some funding but the signings were also players who'll be shining in about 3 years.

When he had his fit players they were excellent. Finished 5th in the first season. Second season was generally alright until the entire defence was injured and the keeper plus many more not only because of his tactics.

They're not easy trophies that have been won. Winning and dominating the A League with a salary cap is something else. The J League is highly competitive. He had a massive point turnaround in his first Celtic season.

The Forest situation doesn't suit him currently but that's where he needs 2 windows to work and get his way across. Forest already hit their peak. They themselves shouldn't expect much more.

Dyche wont save them, they're absolute bums in front of goals. How did nico williams miss the target just then?

Played well in the first half.
They were flattered by Chelsea's terrible passing. Most of their best chances came from poor turnovers. Pressure from Forest was good, but once Chelsea settled down they were done.

Notable stat - 3 shots to 0 in the first 20 minutes, 0 shots to 8 in the next 30.
