Big Ange thread

If Brazil don't win the WC and Ancelotti departs, I'd love Ange to be appointed to take over. I realise the chances are remote but I'm allowed to dream. Maybe Richarlison can put in a good word. From a purely football perspective it's just about a perfect fit. Yeah, he's probably a bit too thin-skinned to handle extreme scrutiny that comes with that job. But I don't see great options presenting for him in the EPL. Probably some interesting ones will eventually present on the continent. That's if he wants to return to management.

Frank is a very good manager in his own right. It's once again a case study of a genuinely good person being seen as one to fix a rotten basket case like Spurs. The same goes for HSV or Schalke. They've actually got some decent stuff going after internal club reform.

Frank is the type of manager that is great at getting the best out of those mid range players with the odd superstar around. Enter the bigger named squad and it goes wrong fast. The Brentford players are performing better than Spurs currently. Those Spurs players need to have a good look at themselves.

Ange meanwhile took no shit. He did his cleanout like Celtic and got buy in and instilled a near siege mentality to playing his system. We know the flaws were highlighted but that didn't stop the majority of the squad applying it well and openly criticising his departure. That is the type of medicine Spurs will need regardless.

Which other managers could come in and tear Spurs a new one?

Having spoken to other Spurs fans the only options most of them want are Xabi Alonso, Jürgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino, Xavi or Zinedine Zidane.

Not like the money and facilities aren't there. Levy gone. Don't know who they are but there's got to be others in there who've been there way too long keeping the damaging structures in place.

It'll take a lot of work but the right manager and appropriate recruitment should steady the ship.

LOL at yet more deluded Spurs fans.

They had a winner who won them a trophy…and they sacked him.

They deserve everything they get.
Definitely delusional for those except for Poch. By the way this isn't me saying this, it's other Spurs fans. I personally would be happy with any decent manager who can win us games and see us at least challenge for silverware. But that manager needs to be backed.

My issue with Poch is after leaving Spurs he hasn't been so good. He was average at Chelsea where he was backed and he started out quite badly with the USMNT. He's doing fine now with the US but I don't know how that'll translate into the Premier League. Oh and he certainly won't quit before the World Cup.

Two of the others listed also already have jobs coming soon. Jürgen Klopp wants to manage Germany and Zizou wants to manage France. The others will surely get jobs soon (though Xavi hasn't managed since 2024).

Again any manager needs to be backed. A good manager also needs good players.

Poch had a seriously talented squad at his disposal.

Could the unthinkable happen and Spurs get dragged into a relegation dogfight after this loss? Probably not but can't rule it out.
We already are. West Ham almost won today and are in much better form than us. Only three teams have lost three of their last five Prem games: us, Newcastle (who just beat us) and Wolves.

We're actually only five points off West Ham who are 18th and three points off Forest who are 17th. We can just assume Burnley and Wolves are gone but the third relegation spot is between us, Brighton, Forest, Leeds, Palace and West Ham.

Yeah you could argue that Ange would've delivered more success if he had prime Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, etc. Poch won nothing with them yet Ange won something with a washed up Son and a front line of Brennan Johnson and Richarlison.

I've never rated Romero ever since I started following when Ange took over. Massively over-rated in all those years. I think he's a player who is unsuited to the EPL. Rumours that Real Madrid are interested in signing him which would be best for all parties concerned, imo. La Liga better for him and Spurs will be hoping to get decent money for him from moneybags Madrid.

with the dozen so games left to play I have no doubt they will be in the mix of the last relo place - also depends on other results but the run of games they have left anything is possible, Arse next lol........

HSF, Xavi only recently got punted by RM.
IF anything he'll be at LFC for next season from the goss.
The rest mentioned are dreamer spurs fans by the look of it as mentioned - mind you I think Poch would bring a known comfort to the whole club imo.

My criticism of Ange is that he wasn't ruthless enough. I'm guessing here but my impression is he didn't really push for Richarlison and Sonny to go, particularly when there were big Saudi offers for both iirc. His squad needed an overhaul. His key to success at Celtic was mainly about the squad overhaul there, with deadwood going and bringing in the Japanese contingent.

Maybe he was worried he wouldn’t get anyone better.
