Big Ange thread

yer agree plus has there ever been a coach who has been punted twice from the same league in short time and gain another chance ?
Unheard of that I can recall.
I think he goes as mentioned to another good league and rebuild for alot of shit is sticking to him atm.
Even the Championship would be good to me.
Imagine he gaining promotion back up that way would be a riot - imagine the headlines and his quotes haha
Yeah, I hope he goes to a Championship team and wins promotion that way but I can’t see it happening, they’re too pragmatic. Somewhere on the continent then, not another gig in the Premier League.

I mean Vincent Kompany got relegated with Burnley and has the Bayern job. Big teams tend to look for coaches who have an attacking identity. I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool or United went for him despite fan opinion.

Pascuali as you know its not like comparing apples with apples but understand the point.
Kompany is just 40yrs - learnt many arts from the school of Pep, flavour of the times, not similar to Angeball you could say.
Kompany had a passing and possession-based style of football similar to his former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, and greatly different to the direct and physical football of former Burnley manager Dyche.
Mind you Pep quoted how much he liked Ange's appraoch.
Lets see where he lands look forward to it.

agree I'm not worried couldn't see FSG going Ange thats for sure.
Just for kicks this is what Slot gets

Frankly it's lowkey-giving he knows that if his next coaching-job is outside of the UK, then mainstream-🇦🇺's care factor regarding his career will be precisely zero. I get that'd sound farfetched to most, but IMO it's in line w/how he does see his career as part of the evangelising-mission for the game's profile here.

In saying that, I too'd rather his next gig be on the Continent.

Angeball by Rugari now 3 quid at The Works in UK or any 3 books for 7.50. Paid 20 bucks in June.

If Spurs get some injuries then they could be in completely messed up in the league. Be interesting to see which comp Frank prioritises and how the media justifies it.

There's no point in Thomas Frank prioritising the Champions League because they have no chance of winning that. Not with his current squad.

Ange Postecoglou's decision to prioritise the Europa League over the Premier League was more than justified because any reasonably good Premier League side should be capable of winning that and it leads to qualification to the Champions League the following season too, with all that it contains in terms of money and kudos of course...

In that sense I've always felt Ange Postecoglou's last year at Spurs was a hugely successful one. That's why it's still bewildering in my mind why he got the arse....

This year they are going to end up with sweet fa....and I don't man the FA cup.....😂

I agree.

It made sense for Ange to prioritise the Europa over EPL. Many would have got angry at him if he went all out in the league and perhaps picked up more injuries, affecting Europa chances.

The man came, promised that he would win a trophy, did that, and they still treat him like dirt. Granted, his Forest stint did not help his standing, but the ridicule he gets is wholly unjustified. It would have been different if Spurs were a title threat the year before or anything like that, but that was never the case. Spurs fans think they are bigger than they are.

Yep. I heard former Spurs player and caretaker manager Tim Sherwood interviewed on one of the UK sports radio stations the other day saying he still cannot work out why Postecoglou was sacked....

I know we go on about it but really??

I'm English and have got no iron in the fire here in terms of national footballing pride but it was just incredulous....

Knee jerk reaction of a looney.
I was still surprised he flicked Nuno

How do you arrive at that scenario, he lost something like 23 league games, the most in their history, that is the bread and butter of football, the league. Everything else is a bonus.

True, but getting the club into the Champions League via winning the Europa League still has to be regarded as having a successful season. Every single club in the Premier League would regard qualifying for the Champions League as having a good if not excellent season....

The league might be the 'bread and butter' but Champions League qualification is the cherry on top of the cake.....
