Best overseas leagues for Aussies?

that true jas88 - I think thats part of what you go through though eh as a budding hopeful making it.....
Sometimes your own home system just isn't going to give you the chance.
Celtic didn't like what they saw he goes elsewhere and prospers, similar in a small degree re Volpato and another from here that escapes me.
The rest is history.
I think it shows the lack of vision by TD's but at the sametime no one is perfect at any given job in developing or recruiting.
Aaron Mooy at WSW? Did not fit Popa's style and moved to Hearts (?).

After having a look at Wrexham over 3 games in Aus and NZ, I might have to reappraise my former evaluation of the Championship and League 1.

Not viewing the Championship and League 1 for a long time, since Fox covered these leagues, if Wrexham are the typical football team in terms of style, in the upper table of League 1 and the Champ overall, Aussies appear to be making good choices playing for teams in these leagues.

Whenever I watched them the hoofball and second ball football played, was anathema to most of the style played in international football.

Wrexham's tactics and style of play were so far in advance of most teams in these leagues 8 odd years ago, or whenever Jedi played for Crystal Place in the Champ.

Looking at recent Socceroo games, it seems like the MLS in the US, the JL in Japan, and the English Championship, are improving as good options for Aussies, who don't make the Big Five in UEFA, or, the 30 odd big clubs in UEFA who play a lot of Champ League or Europa League football in Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Scotland, Greece, Turkey, et al.

The Aus players playing in USA, Japan and English Championship, have developed skills that are extrapolating well to international football. These leagues may well be increasing their world ranking in global football - and - are becoming better destinations for prospective Socceroos.

MLS lacks the IMO-vital ingredient of pro/rel, hence why I disagree on that point(having said that, I concede it’s not necessarily a bad destination for our GKs given how attack-minded that league tends to be).

Jed Drew, who’s now at TSV Hartberg in Austria🇦🇹 has gone on record as saying its Bundesliga is arguably the perfect first-destination for Aussie players in Europe🇪🇺

Times move on D - the lower leagues follow the main league, been pretty normal over the decades.

As far as I'm concerned (mens) you end up at the MLS because you haven't been selected anywhere in EU full stop.
Mind you its good option for a fair salary and less competition so to speak - and better for our girls if they can't get in the EU clubs as has been happenning.

The American women's league is of a VERY high standard, hence why they are so good.
