Australian transfers 25-26 Winter

When I look at Feyenoord fan forums, they tend to think that he needs to improve a bit more on his defensive game. If so, then he should at the very least see out the season. Having said that, thus far he has been the most clever of his generation in selecting destination leagues and clubs. Westerlo in the Belgian league because Westerlo was not a big club and was most likely to get a game (here is looking at you Kuol, Tilio, Arzani); and the Belgian league because although not a big league, it is a league that scouts keep an eye on. Now Feyenoord & the Dutch league, bigger club with an injured LWB at the time meant that he was going to get game time and of course the Dutch League is nominally ranked 6th.

It's not always in the players control, they can only move to clubs that offer a contract. Maybe more should say no and be a bit more patient, it's a tough choice.

Yes it does depend on whether clubs make an offer but player managers are there to hawk their clients and keeping their eyes on opportunities. It also means that the player needs to carefully assess their chances, so for Kuol to go to Newcastle or Irankunda to Germany was not a good move.

Arzani seemed to have left MV just when he was starting to look like a key player for them. Have to remember he often catches fire and before long seems to be back on the pine due to a dip in effort and performances.

Should have remained in the A-league until a move materialised that actually made sense to his career trajectory. Otherwise nothing wrong with trying to become one of the best players in the league as NT selection would still be on the table in that reality.

Biggest issue is he barely scores any goals.

Thomas Müller saying his options were Vancouver and Sydney and basically the easier flight Vancouver sealed it. Taken with humour I think.

Basically saying that his levels aren't where they need to be and he's still playing catch up from pre-season??
He can't rate him that highly if he doesn't even think he's worth having on the bench even if he's slightly underdone.

Get out asap Jake.

But also in terms of talent as LB he was always better than other LB's relative to Kuol, Tilio and Arzani as wingers in Europe. Playing at Westerlo at Bos's level was easy money and he delivered very strong performances consistently and more so improved and now Feyenoord is just another calculated leap.

Bos's defence is solid, like other good attacking full-backs they are solid at defence but not world-beaters. He is such an attacking threat that he is hardly back to defend and probably more so tired from his constant presence in offence. I think he could improve his weak-foot. His power is fine but he is so left-foot dominant when passing, it cuts off so many angles of play. That being said, his left foot is world-class.

Bos's defence has already improved since he has gone overseas. His attack was always good but he has taken that a notch or two as well. If Farrell can finally get fit we have LB covered for the next ten years.

The issue that Australian players tend to have when they move to Europe are injuries (refer to the many pages on this forum regarding injuries) and that they are an unknown quantity. Westerlo took a risk and it paid off for both of them. And yes it is a calculated risk as JBos has said himself because he would like to play in the EPL.
Now as far as his defensive capabilities are, and I accept this may be hyperbole, but as a LWB he is the most exciting LWB since Roberto Carlos was plying his trade at Real Madrid and the Brazilian NT. That should be his aim, to match Roberto Carlos.

Teague and Arzani for sure as not getting any minutes but Nisbet is a key player starting every week in a team that will likely push for promotion so no issues there

When the move was announced I looked at the Ferencvaros squad and felt Arzani was far from certain to be in the starting 11 so no surprises. Nisbet should have stayed at CCM. His transfers have probably cost him a spot in the WC squad. Maybe Popa will give him a late chance.

I haven't watched much of Hollman but I know he's highly rated by some posters. His situation reminds me a little of Wilkshire when he was warming the pine for Bristol City in League One. Guus came in as NT coach, rated him and recommended him, iirc. Went to Twente and the rest is history. Hopefully Hollman can also move up to get playing time but unfortunately no Guus to help with that now.
