yep and that how/why Steggall got in, you got to read the room as my wife says.Demographics change, boundaries change and so do political parties and they all have an effect.
At the end of the day it sometimes doesn't come down to 'footy tribe' loyalty but the individual member. When I was younger we had a local state member that the ministry used to call 'the minister for bus stops' because of his pursuit for his electorate.
That's why when an independent that fits the electorate is elected they become incredibly difficult to shift. They not only suit the sensibility of the voters they also fight for their voters needs over what would be a parties agenda.
Same applied to Johnny in Bennelong way back then when he lost his seat by McKew.
Hence growth of Independents.
