The parties who are actually trying to do something on climate change? Colour me shocked hey.
The Liberals also have climate policies. Funny it’s the moderate MPs they always contest rather than the ones with shit climate policies. Almost like it would give Labor an advantage to have more unelectables on the other side.

Also, they’re currently going on about how Jess Wilson didn’t explicitly say that the Coalition would refuse to work with One Nation when she was being pressed by the ABC. Labor never get that pressure when it comes to being asked about working with the Greens.

The Coalition and indeed the ALP have no need to explicitly say they won't work with One Nation.

If the LNP as expected win the Victorian election and it is a minority govt (possibility) then they just need a guarantee of supply and confidence with enough members to form government. That may include One Nation but I expect the moderate liberals in the inner city would prefer to look at other cross benchers or even the ALP. But you don't rule it out. If they have a good idea - take it and mould it around your policy..

As for the Greens and the ALP in the federal parliament. If the Greens or the independents push too radical they do a deal with the Coalition. If the Coalition pushes too hard on an issue they want swing to the progressives and give a little bit more. Albanese always undersells the more progressive elements of legislation to give himself the choice of who to deal with.

No major party should not rule out 'working with' another party - but that is not a coalition or a formal alliance.

Well they should probably start advertising those, because I'm not aware of them. Which policies are you referring to? Their website currently talks about abandoning net zero and supporting coal and gas use.
Those are policies, even if you don't like them.

Yes, I am aware those are policies, and that's one reason why I couldn't possibly vote for federal Liberal party at the moment.

However, HonestSpursFan appears to be labouring under the misapprehension that the Liberals do have policies to address climate change, and I'd really like to know what he/she is talking about because I'm not aware of any and neither, it seems, is the person who populated the Liberals' website.

The next election is in Victoria. That’s a state election, not a federal election.

Yeah thanks for the info mate, but you were talking about Climate 200, the scope of whose political activities extends well beyond the upcoming Victorian election.

At any rate, still waiting to hear about these Liberal climate policies at state or federal level if you care to enlighten us.

What are Labor’s policies? From what I know the Liberals aren’t gonna get rid of any of the existing policies. In saying that, climate change is primarily a state issue.

Also, Climate 200 is not solely a climate advocacy group. They also advocate for a lot of other stuff. And when you see how their members vote, it’s hard to justify that they’re really centrist independents.

Yes, if we confiscated all their wealth we could fund the federal government’s expenditure for 9 months.
I too like to make up facts. Did you know that if you mix dishwashing liquid with your petrol, the petrol lasts longer and you only need to fill up your car once a month?

This point is always frustrating to hear. "Labor never get pressed.." "no one pushes Labor..."

It is literally the M.O of Skynews or whatever they call themselves now. Even other outlets have questioned Labor about working with the Greens. In fact, this is what Albo said:

Speaking to Sky News, Albanese then ruled out making a deal with the Greens if Labor fails to win majority government at the next federal election.

“Absolutely. I rule that out,” said Albanese.

I also got this off Australian Jewish News so not only is it a right wing source within the article, but also a Zionist one reporting it. So I've not gotten some left wing source.

One is a definitive statement, the other is a person not making a definitive statement, hence the push.

In saying that, the nature of our government is that at times parties need to make deals. Heck, Liberals have preferenced Greens in elections simply to make Labor lose seats. If Labor work with the Greens to push forward positive change for Australian people, then there really should be no problem. The issue as always it's ok for the right to do something, not anyone else.

It’s really hard to be factual responding to hypotheticals but here is a quick google search on last financial year’s government expenditure. It’s about $100billion more than all the wealth of all the billionaires (as per your quote). The only difference is that the government gets to spend that amount every year.

I think we should confiscate all the millionaires wealth too. Then we can make a debt on poverty.

So the government has income as well. Expected expenditure is not the final amount and can't just be looked at it separately. Data from the ABS shows that in the 2024/25 financial year, the final amount was a loss of ~$1bn.

So whilst expenditure is high, they make income to offset that expenditure. The thing would be to not just look at the figures, but ask what the money is being spent on. For example tax breaks for mining companies would not be good use of tax dollars.

Govt expenditure is also intended to support society by providing infrastructure, healthcare, education, etc etc

Billionaires just hoard their wealth. They have zero benefit to society.
