We're already behind that any birth rate spike will see benefits decades from now but also its own challenges.

Meanwhile Jobs are disappearing at a fast rate that it'll depend on which sectors need workers. Companies also stupidly crying at a lack of specialised workers but many specialised workers are also unemployed. Of course it's more complicated than that but the lack of economic viability for company business models is constantly denied by business leaders.

I don't think people have an issue with such programs like this. The issue most people take against socialists is the type that came into Cambodia and murdered millions of people.

Compassion for those on hard times is needed and assistance should be given but the welfare state being a lifestyle shouldn't be viable either. Germany and the UK have so many economically inactive people know which has drained local council budgets and only added to the strain of the working population propping it up.

A big issue is governments paying businesses to employ them. Companies have gotten drunk on cheap labour and the concessions afforded to them to make employment numbers look better. If anything those who work and earn just above the welfare thresholds should be given a bit of money to lessen the burden of paying everything yourself.
