I'm not at all for the banning of the burqa. It violates fundamental human rights, such as the freedom of thought, conscience, and religion. Unless for specific official identification reasons of course like the police or immigrationat an airport...

I would doubt that there's many young girls or women who are forced to wear a burqa against their wishes in Australia to be honest.

Maybe some may face intense family or community pressure to wear one but probably not many.

I'm pretty sure that when you hear talk of the coercion of girls and women in Muslim communities to wear the burqa it's all a bit over done.
It’s more common in Australia than in some Muslim countries. Of the 18 countries that banned the burqa, while most are in Europe, three are actually Muslim countries: Morocco, Tajikistan and Tunisia.

‘Peak Australia’: National Australia Bank boss’s devastating warning as real wages go backwards

Australia’s living standards may never improve from today’s levels the head of NAB has declared amid devastating new data.

That's not just an Australian issue....

Living standards across the whole Western World have peaked and will start to go backing as the West faces significant, long-term economic challenges including stagnant growth, high debt, and waning industrial dominance compared to emerging markets.

We're now living in a multiplex world of re-globalisation and there's a new gang in town starting to call the shots....

One thing Australia has going for it is a highly developed resources sector which will continue to be in demand regardless of whether the US led 'West' or the China led 'Global South' is top dog.

For example....

Coal demand in the 'Global South' is expected to increase due to a combination of rapid industrialisation, high population growth, and the urgent need for affordable, reliable baseload electricity to support economic expansion. While many developed nations 'Western' are transitioning away from coal, emerging economies particularly in Southeast Asia and India will have to rely heavily on coal to meet rising energy needs.

Southeast Asia nations such as Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines are emerging as significant 'growth markets'.

Australian thermal 'black' coal, known for its high energy and low ash content, is preferred for modern, high-efficiency power plants being planned and built in these regions.

Australia could supply these countries and regions for another 150 years.

Its not over for Australia just yet.....

But that is where your assumptions fall in a heap... You can calmly state your disdain for my critical thinking as much as you want.. You may like to presume that Im retarded and not smart enough to discern that "fairy stories" aren't just indoctrinated propaganda designed to subjugate my mind, but Im sorry my experience with religion had absolutely nothing to do with the horror childhood you describe.

I mean fear and guilt about God? AND looking up to Ricky Gervais?? No wonder man... I get it the brothers did a number on you but for many intellectually superior people (at least superior to both you and I) Jesus means love and comfort.... I cant relate to your opinions whatsoever. If it make you feel superior to hide behind words like "indoctrination"go for it just like a reverse JonSmith.

If every book on earth was destroyed tomorrow and 99.9% of the world's population were wiped out when civilisation restored itself in 5000 years time, or whenever, all of science would be back in books exactly as it was before.

There literally wouldn't be any difference. Zero.

On the other hand not a single religious text would even come close to as what exists today.

Not a single one. None.

That's just a fact.

Not a single person in the future would have ever heard about Thor, mohammed, jesus, John Smith, L Ron Hubbard or any other omnipotent entity. Nobody.

You are the religion you are because you were born into it. If you were born in India you wouldn't give 2 hoots about jesus. You'd be a Hindu or Buddhist.

You, me, everybody, are random flukes born into situations none of us chose or had any control over.

Nope that is NOT a fact, it is a hypothetical opinion. You realise most religions began as oral histories passed down over hunderds of years to be codified and written down much later... Chose to not believe if you must but dont pretend they "sprang up overnight" its not a million monkeys with a million typewriters for a million years writing Shakespeare.

And as for lumping in LR Hubbard and Jesus in the same sentence, its odd how "men of science" choose comparisons so specifically.

And the big whopper, Christianity in India, I guess 30 odd million Christians there feel a little disrespected by your lack of acknowledging their existence

You can believe YOU are a random fluke I chose not to..

Whether there are Christians or not in india is moot. You are the religion you are because, unless you chose it, you were born into it. Chances are though you wouldn't be Christian if you were born in India, Afghanistan, Syria or Indonesia. (Or does the god that chooses you to be Christian just happy to have billions of people born into the wrong religion? Sidebar, what makes you so special to get the right religion?)

Why not put jesus and the other bloke in the same sentence? I'm trying to capture the widest range of beliefs in a brief sentence.

No one believes the bible or religious texts 'sprang up overnight'. My point was if all literature was destroyed and humanity was wiped out and started from scratch every science book would be restored eventually.

There is zero chance, ZERO, that any religious texts would come back that resemble anything we have today. That's a fact. Everything you (the metaphorical 'you') place 'faith' in from texts wouldn't exist.

And you 'choosing' to believe you're not a random fluke doesn't mean it's not true and is wishful thinking on your part. Maybe you're not but 'choosing to believe' makes no difference to the truth whatever that may be.

I can CHOOSE to be a black african woman, that doesn't make it true.

There was no time when you or I or these Gods did not exist - Baghavad Gita. ;)

It's hollow listening to this considering he is partly responsible for the issues that people face in regards to lower wages and cost of living.

These millionaires always come out and say these things every once in a while, but do absolutely nothing to fix it.

And have consistently voted against housing affordability and minimum wage legislation.

We are going backwards though. The middle is being hollowed out. Wealth disparity is rising. Something needs to change.

My favourite is the billionaires at the moment funding anti-immigrant social media stuff, blaming them for economic ills, while closing their locations locally so they can pay people overseas a 10th of the wage to maximise profit.

My favourites are the British that emigrate to Saudi Arabia or the UAE because they don't like what the UK is becoming because of all the muslims and they don't want to live under sharia law.

This bloke does a pretty good British expat.

Its NOT moot to the Christians in India.. and me being special is divine intervention, God chose the Greek people for a purpose.. dont be a hater.

Thats very easy to say yet can also be disproved... The Odyssey and Iliad, for example, were passed on from mouth to ear for a millennia or two before being written down, as did the Epic of Gilgamesh as did many others, why wouldnt the Bible or the Torah or the Quran survive the same way?. Is your doomsady scenario implying that humanity will be wiped out? If thats the case, do you realy beleive that evolution will lead to the creation of the same human form and consciousness as now?

And here I thought you were all about trans rights and the right to self identify.

Yes my doomsday scenario is 50 people are left from a tribe deep in the Amazon to repopulate the earth. (This time, no talking to fucking snakes.)

In that case all of science would be restored, zero religious texts would be.

And you can 'self identify' in any way that you choose, that doesn't make it true or factual. I remember when blokes who had dicks and dressed as women were called 'chicks with dicks' or 'cross-dressers' not 'women'.

In that case, the poor Earth is probably doomed, if they havent manmaged to figure a way to conatct the rest f the planet after millions of years why would they even bother now?
