Australian Dual Nationals 🇦🇺🏳️

I think someone like Irvine isn't fussed by this and is fine with those jumping ship as he's there to do his job along with those committed.

As if the players don't write to each other. Segecic and Triantis have probably whispered the situation to each other in the past.

Can’t find the X post now, but read one of the journos pushing back on claims that Oz was ignoring him. Apparently FA found out 10 days ago via the Croatian Fed. Which would rule out this being a hissy fit over not being selected for March friendlies.

That's right and I think this timeline is a lot longer where Croatian had been plotting.

A promising 2010-born prospect is Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli. Born in Sydney to an Australian mother, he recently became Chelsea’s youngest ever starter in the UEFA Youth League and has also appeared in the EFL Trophy.
If he can play for anyone else then he's best ignored.

“He’s gonna play for England, Antonio Arena’s gonna play for Italy, let’s not bother with dual internationals and give Popa a 10-year contract.”

— Delusional Reddit takes lol

Hopefully he does pick us. Same goes for Antonio Arena.

Arena is so young but I'd be curious hear his thoughts. To be perfectly fair it should be on his mind at that age. I think 19 is when you've got to start seeing how players are forming up.

Looks like Adrian Segečić has completely stuck the finger up at Tony Popović. According to Instagram, he said (in Croatian): "I grew up in Australia, but my family is from Croatia and I feel Croatian, and I felt the desire to represent my homeland of Croatia." Still follows the Socceroos on Insta though unlike Nektarios Triantis.

Segecic is a loss but not a big loss. For me, Skoko and Pavlesic are bigger losses to Croatia. Segecic was a bolter for this World Cup squad but I was doubting he would make it, which I think he knew which is why he decided to switch. He's a strong player when he is in-form.
He was definitely one of the future, not this WC. Who knows where he could be in another 4-8 years.

Skoko and Pavlesic are big losses, but they made their choice early and have been consistent, especially Skoko.

How will Popa be remembered in a decade? As a winning manager who had loyal players, or by the number of caps made by the players lost? If he doesn't win, what do we have?
Prediction - As our worst manager of the modern era, ahead of that German bloke. Someone who lost 3 WC games, bombed out of the Asian Cup before the semis, introduced a disgusting playing style and lost 3-4 players who end up on a Big 5 squad to other nations. Hope I’m wrong.

The evidence that he wanted to be a Socceroo is that he accepted the call-up. It's that simple really. I think every post I've ever seen from you on this forum has been to be an apologist for Popovic. I honestly don't know how anyone could be defending Popovic at this point. How many more young talented dual nationals will it take to walk away from the Socceroos for you to realise that there's a problem and that player management has been appalling? Popovic doesn't own this team. It's the people's team. He's simply a custodians at this time. However, decisions he is making will screw over the Socceroos long after he's gone. That will undoubtedly be his legacy.
Post of the fucking year.

Nailed it in the top bin from halfway.

The naivety to think we have a large talent pool where we can pick and choose who wants to play us is crazy, I cant believe people are trying to defend the FA and the coaches for allowing this happen.

Its not we have a large conveyor belt of talent that is sitting in front of us ready to take advantage, Australia doesn't have the large talent pool of the larger powerhouses so Australia needs to work twice as hard to have the best talent at our disposal.

And this is what Croatia are doing here with Segecic and others they found, they know they don't have a large pool of players to work with so they are going to take advantage of their diaspora from around the world.

Australia is not a position and might never be when we should pushing away talent to other nations especially where we are not in a position where we can win the World Cup too, to think that we don't need players like Segecic, Triantis is naive and arrogant.

We aren't Germany so we can't lauugh off Turkish players who opt to play there. In saying that Germany got Ă–zil and GĂĽdogan but Uzun and Yildiz opted for Turkey. Yildiz was a massive German mistake is disregarding him so much while others took faith.

Australia can't afford to be so lax. I agree if they can't be patient then hell to them but we're not working positively with player mindset and then family, agents and other FA's get into their ear and we start to sound even worse than we are.

What's most frustrating is these guys played for Australian youth teams, grew up in Australia and went to the effort with the travel.
Australia thinks it's one of the power houses in football oh boy haha

Asked ai about wide attackers and cams born after 2002 and they have a regular in his position in seri a and basel both at a young age plus a regular at zagreb

Championship at 2004 is definitely competitive but a long shot
Attacking midfielders:
Martin Baturina (2003) - Was a star in Croatia and is finally breaking out at Como.
Adriano Jagušić (2005) - Best young player in Croatia this season. Just got sold to Panathinaikos (weird move).
Luka Stojković (2003) - Talented player but a bit of a hothead. Very polarising player.

Right wingers:
Marin Ĺ otiÄŤek (2004) - Wanted my club Dinamo Zagreb to sign him 2 years ago from Lokomotiva but he went to Basel. General view is that he hasn't developed much there.
Mateo Lisica (2003) - Played very well in the autumn part of HNL for Dinamo this season before getting mono and hasn't returned to that level.
Bruno Durdov (2007) - Left footer with a lot of talent. Hasn't really established himself but is still very young.

Wtf are you talking about you weirdo.

I’m gutted about all of this. The Australian football community puts time and effort and our very limited money into players and just get burned as a footballing nation. It’s so disheartening.

As a Sydney FC fan, I was genuinely just looking forward to one of our local youth products have a decent overseas career and provide some value to the national team. Instead he’s spat in our faces for maybe 5 caps for a country he might have visited once or twice on holiday who invested nothing in him and are just hoarding diaspora players.

It fucking sucks.

So you only blame the player but not the federation who haven’t pushed hard enough because of this earn the jersey narrative?
