this looks like u18, apparently 2 matches happening now
 
We’re so outclassed and consistently fouling to stay in it. We struggle to hold the ball past halfway and when they get it they go through us like water.

3-0 now. I think it’s their u18s and our u19s (see last page of this thread).
 
3-0, pretty tough going

Pretty weakened aussie side mind you - I'm sure thats true of spain as well but it affects us more
 
In the remaining games we went down 1-2 to a Japanese select team and 0-2 to their national u18 team. 3 losses for 1 goal for, 7 against.

I don’t follow much local youth football, but I hadn’t heard of any of the players (just a few of their dads). I don’t know how close/far this is from a true u20s or if it was more a trial of certain players. Does anyone know if any of these players are in A-league squads or have A-league gametime?
 
Have we called up for young socceross U23 for next week asian cup yet?

Every nations already have friendly games and in camp but haven’t heard any news about our squad.

We are in a group with Iraq Thailand china and our first game is on the 8th of January .

Why no preparation or no news. Are we a joke again????

I was thinking the same. Surely the squad announcement is due any day now.

As it’s a non-Olympic qualifying tournament, I’m really hoping we select a purely 2005 and younger squad to give the next cohort a head start. There’s very little point now in playing the 2003 and 2004 guys.

Wonder if they’ll take fringe players and not key players at their respective clubs

I imagine this has to be tonys last chance

We just cant keep misaing olympics. It is as important as the world cup to mainstream australia and i think its really damaged the a league the lack of olympic qualification, let alone success

Yeah but this tournament isn’t a qualifying tournament for the Olympics
