AFC has a minimum capacity of 20,000 for an Asian Cup. Coopers is too small (it has been increased to 20000 on occasions) and Adelaide Oval isn't compliant for a competition (although one-off games are allowed).
Penrith is increasing to 25,000 and Central Coast Stadium to a 365 day use 30,000+ stadium by 2030 (eateries, bars, etc facing a new Dane Drive plaza). The Stadium use at the moment may not warrant it but it is being looked at as part of a transport, development and waterfront strategy. This would probably place it between the Newcastle and Melbourne stadiums. Pretty wild when you think those two will be bigger than the largest in Melbourne and Western Sydney
TBH that is what Adelaide probably needs - an urban redevelopment site that a stadium can anchor for new housing and transport infrastructure.
These are the 'rectangular' stadiums in front of Adelaide.
