Age grade Matildas teams thread

I think your theory is full of holes.
Are you telling me that, ,for instance, because the Mariners won the grand final in 2025 that Gomez, Trimis, Fuller will make a move overseas?
They may well do but it won’t have anything to do with winning a grand final.
Jess Nash did and Annalise Rasmussen just did too. I absolutely think those players could play overseas soon.

Let's get some payback on Japan
Japan ran out 6-0 winners over India in their under-20 Women's Asian Cup group C opener whilst the Young Matildas got a 5-0 rout of Chinese Taipei so the last group stage match between us and Japan should be an enthralling contest that'll go down to the wire in terms of determining who tops the group.

Izzy Gomez will be more likely to make the move overseas than Peta Trimis or Tiana Fuller but all three of them definitely have the potential to make it overseas in the future.
It’s just an opinion anyway but naming your favourite players as the ‘most likely’ does a disservice to the many young players striving to play at the top level.

Izzy Gomez is not one of my favourite players but she has senior Matildas experience already in addition to being called up for the April international window which should increase the likelihood of her making the move overseas in the future.

I wasn’t referring to Gomez in particular but you are justifying your nominating certain players by saying that they must have played in a grand final. What I’m saying is that there are many players worthy of playing at the highest level.
Anyway it’s all just opinions so it’s best to just enjoy watching all of them and be happy knowing that the future is bright for our Matildas.👍

The Young Matildas' starting XI for our second group C match against India has been named. Two changes are made to the squad from our opening game against Chinese Taipei, with Shelby McMahon and Danella Butrus coming in for Tiana Fuller and Talia Younis respectively. Alexia Apostolakis again leads the line as captain, with Ilona Melegh starting between the sticks.

Young Matildas now underway in their second group C match of the under-20 Women's Asian Cup against India, kicking from left to right.

Skye Halmarick converts a penalty in the 38th minute to give the Young Matildas a 1-0 lead after Danella Butrus drew a foul in the penalty area.

Skye Halmarick scores again in the 39th minute to get her brace and extend the Young Matildas' lead to 2-0. Peta Trimis with the assist.

Two more changes for the Young Matildas, also in the 58th minute. Milly Bennett comes on for Rubi Sullivan, as does Poppy O'Keeffe for Zara Kruger.
