A-League transfer news/rumours

Ifeanyi Eze has been delisted by Wellington Phoenix to pursue opportunities elsewhere outside of the A-League Men following a standout season where he shared the club's men's player of the year award with their captain Alex Rufer in addition to winning the side's golden boot after scoring ten goals in 27 appearances across the one year of service time in all competitions.

James McGarry has been transferred from Brisbane Roar to Wellington Phoenix and will rejoin the side for the next two A-League Men seasons through the end of season 2027-28, having previously played for them during seasons 2020-21 and 2021-22.

Perth Glory are culling eight players from their A-League Men playing list, with Joel Anasmo, Mark Birighitti, Cameron Cook, Zach Lisolajski, Kaelan Majekodunmi, Nicholas Pennington, Luca Tevere and Lachie Wales all leaving the side at season's end.

Pennington was good last season for the Glory a bit strange there moving him on. Maybe he can go back to the Nixs?

Dream signing at jets. Shame to lose him from the league

We announced our departures like a week or two ago.
Sydney FC have already announced delistings from their A-League Men side but nothing has been announced yet from their Dub side except a new head coach, along with transfers for Hana Lowry and Tori Tumeth which were confirmed around the time the finals series was taking place.

Ex Brisbane Roar winger Jacob Brazete’s agents (David Scarsella & Shane Smeltz) had formal discussions last week with Adelaide United officials in relation to trying to get a deal signed for Brazete.

Smeltz & Scarsella both have a long history with the state as well as the club (there agency even has a small office here)

Brazete is a player that is hugely admired by Andrioli, who believes he isn’t the finished article yet and will compliment the squad next season as a tricky winger that loves to dribble and run with the ball, as the club likely to lose Yaya Dukuly in the off season & Amlani Tatu’s development stalling

It just goes to show what a dud the new TV was and the strict $3m cap. Teams just cant afford to keep players unless there on youth contracts. How does a country like Vietnam pay there players double of wot the ALM clubs do. Talk about 3rd rate.
The thing about Vietnamese football that most people might not know or fail to realise is, they don’t rely on broadcast revenue like here in Australia with the a league. A lot of the Vietnamese clubs are owned by business magnates.

The players they import from Brazil, Spain, France even Australia (like with Stefan Mauk) get large signing on fees, performance bonuses even endorsement deals

Cong An Ha Noi FC paid Adelaide a loan fee initially to take Mauk on loan, before agreeing a fee to sign him from Adelaide.

He’s on an extremely good wage in Vietnam (he wouldn’t have got that at Adelaide and I have my doubts any a league club currently would want to match that wage)

AU have had informal discussions with a Jupiler Pro League club in relation to the transfer of Luka Jovanovic earlier this week.

AU believe they can command a fee between $1m-$2m for a player, that had his breakout season last year and who the Serbian FA has previously contacted 18 months earlier, to gauge his interest in representing them (Luka was open to playing for Serbia at that stage)

Just to be clear, it’s purely informal discussions – there has been no official negotiations yet, but this can change very quickly in football as we all know.

AU are likely to lose 3 starting players from last season, with an expected $5million+ euros to boost the club’s coffers. (however, that money will not be reinvested into the squad)

As per usual, I am not denying or acknowledging Luka’s transfer is imminent – just providing information that isn’t known publicly outside AU

Jupiler league would be an impressive level if he gets game time

That’s the hard part though, isn’t it? Its all well and good having your agent discuss wanting assurances/guarantees about minutes played – it’s another what the coach does.

Luka can’t speak Flemish/French and whilst he is an excellent trainer, there’s been occasions when he’s lashed out due to a bad tackle or making runs and the ball not coming to him.

He’s also in a relationship with an up-and-coming social media influencer here in Adelaide, and it wouldn’t surprise me if she followed him to Europe.

Belgium’s a great country for further development, many Australians have come through that league and gone onto bigger and better things.

I must state again the move is not guaranteed, there are other clubs in different countries (Netherlands) that are also watching him. Lets see what happens

Is he still open to representing Serbia?
