A-League transfer news/rumours

All trophies count and they all add to the storied histories of clubs including South Melbourne who are still the most successful team in Dockerty Cup history and will forever hold the distinction of being the inaugural Australian Championship winners.
With all due respect, they don't. In the growing argument between MUFC and LFC, about who has won the most trophies, neither of them counts their lower league titles. Dockerty cup is only a local trophy in VIC.

Then surely the calibre of players that come through a club's system would count which South Melbourne is successful in also.

Look, all trophies count for the clubs involved, but the ones that count are in the top division, or in Australia’s case the NSL and the A league. SMFC still are in top 5 in national trophies won, AFAIA.

Stats are a pile of shite. If you watched all of SFC matches, you'd be amazed at how low that total of goals was. How we made the final was more about the rest of the league, than ourselves. In my 21 seasons attending, that was probably the worst team i have witnessed, even under the Farina years.
You started talking about defence & I clearly demonstrated that Sydney FC conceded the less goals over the course of a season which is the metric of a team. The "worst" team and "the rest of the league" are purely objective measures when you're deciding what players to start every week. Rhyan Grant started every game, Alexander Popovic did very well and Jordon Courtney Perkins did good also. And without Tisserand and Alex Grant who were specifically brought in to shore up the defence, that they got injured happens. The problem was never the defence but the front third which I'll agree was dogshit and a drain on the rest of the team which is why Sydney started sliding down the ladder at the back end of the season and why a change had to happen and Sydney were better for it with Kisnoobo in charge. Coaches and players may talk about "attractive" football but that is just for fanboy consumption. Results are on the only thing that matters.

Don’t agree. The first objective now is not to get beat, instead of going for the win from the off.

Did you not read in your KNVB pamphlet that Fergie let go of Stam at the time over comments that were made in his biography and later , very publicly, admitted that he regretted his decision. I mean it was fairly global football news in 2001.... or had you NOT "discovered" football yet?
I had discovered football well before this.

When I was playing football in the mid 60s, what were you doing?

I have no doubt SAF regretted offloading Stam prematurely.
