A-League Mens 25/26 - Round 25

The results are a shambles when it comes to table position after our pre-season and the start we had to the season - but the club is far from a shambles. Too easy to just clump it in as another crap season but the club itself has not done that much wrong this season and I stand with them proudly.

I would like to acknowledge the excellent article Mike Tuckerman wrote for the Brisbane Roar newsletter this week.

If you (collectively) are not members and/or don't get the emails then that is your loss ;).

Without making excuses, it just highlights the run of bad luck we had this season - and the only part of the season that was really in our control was the sale of Herrington - who many, including me, think is something a bit special and not just replaceable by any other centreback.

I have been away for 6 weeks and mostly living dark in an online sense so I have not seen or been to any games in almost 2 months. I can't comment on crowd numbers (or the lack of) and have no idea how we have actually been playing - but I will be there on Saturday for the last home game and I am looking forward to shouting myself hoarse yet again in my passionate orange birthday suit (get that picture out of your heads).

I have no idea if there are pressures to replace Michael Valkanis at the helm next season - but if he stays as I expect then, injuries and misfortune aside, maybe we will play good football and start to rebuild the supporter presence at games again.

Come on you Roar.

Let's flog City and make sure MCG is as sad about missing finals football as those of us in our ragged but proud orange demeanours.

And to answer what may be an unasked question - Abu Dhabi (a week before The Fool's War), Lyon, Tirano, Chur, Zermatt, Paris, Barcelona, Marseilles, Monaco, Rome, Naples, Sorrento, Venice, Munich, Amsterdam, Bruges, Paris/Giverney, Mont Saint Michel, Perth, home.
Thanks be to the soccer gods I was beginning to fear the worst ... that you had moved over to Reddit.

Welcome back, hope you had an amazing time...

Tuckerman is a great writer (he writes for Football360 now). Can you please post his article? Thanks

Only NZ clubs to get over 10k crowds this round showing why the ALM is dead in Aus. As always no one ever shows up to the last game of the season in Australia the gen public tend to give it a miss. With the AFL and NRL on the way it’s gonna be a dire finals football.
Vuck 2 v 2 Jets Crowd 8k
Nix 2 v 1 WSW Crowd 10k
Roar 1 v 2 Ciry Crowd 2k
SFC 2 v 2 Glory Crowd 8k
AFC 3 v 1 CCM Crowd 12k
AUFC 2 v 1 Bulls Crowd 9k

I was working with Thai spam bots on a short but lucrative contract.

They needed someone on the inside...

Always great to see new places - and as I told LFC in a quiet moment; I would not be so rude as to cark it without letting you all know.

Surely fearing the worst would involve moving to Tasmania and lobbying the Government for something ;) :devilish:

****Disclaimer: This is purely a work of fiction, and no resemblance to people living or posting is to be taken seriously.****

So the knocking in the downpipe was not you, nor that weird spectral figure that is always hanging around when I get up for a leak. I could swear it is wearing a Roar scarf tho. It must be the ghost of the Roar of greatness past. It certainly looks appropriately depressed.

Sounds great .Did you see any football games live?I only thought DJT had an orange birthday suit.

You are right about Herrington. He may well have played himself into the starting XI for the WC finals.

gee some nice passages of play

short season is so frustrating, just as the football starts getting decent quality its nearly season over haha

Valkanis has done an ok job

would not drop him unless someone better is available

but would drop him for the bergers coach haha

or for danny graystone

It has actually been a slightly more enjoyable season, better youth (including herrington who left early) and better results. I guess that shows how dire its been when a 3/10 is an improvement!

I wish there was a season preview each year interviewing all the queensland players in the squad giving their background, and which qld city they are from

I'd be happy to do it for next season, but wouldnt have the access

I saw nothing beyond tourist stuff - very fast paced trip with a lot of train travel and mostly staying only a couple of days in places.

Top game from both teams. The Jets are so good at finding players in the box and putting pressure on the defence.Delianov always has a mistake in him but he is a great shot stopper.

That save from Delianov was outstanding.

50 odd minute mark, the ball went out for a Victory throw in and they stopped and took an eternity to take a throw in. It was evident Victory in the second half wanted to slow the game down and close it out. Huge call and IMO, a crazy call given their intensity in the first half had the Jets rattled.
