Sydney tried to attack through patient and probing build ups, but in the first half, credit to Auckland, their game off the ball was very, very good. They disturbed most SFC build ups before they reached the attacking third.
Yes this is very true. Auckland gave them nothing hence why Quispe was invisible.

What value do you feel that a foreign country brings to the Australian football ecosystem that a more deserving local team doesn't ?
Been to this point so many times: scale. Scale relates to financial viability. We don't have enough people and cities in Australia. I have no emotional connection to NZ participation at all. It is a purely pragmatic view and really not worth debating because the NZ clubs are here to stay.

There is no city in Australia that could offer a new team that would come anywhere close to Auckland's impact and numbers. Perhaps a Gold Coast or Gong or South Melbourne side could match a horribly underperforming Wellington. But there is no suggestion anywhere of anyone stumping up the cash for any of those potential clubs.

If there was only one Sydney club they’d get bigger crowds than Auckland. In fact Sydney FC already come close.

HSF, BOTH Sydney clubs should be pulling more supporters than Auckland. Personally, I think Auckland are a bubble and their attendances will slip back a couple of notches.

A decent Wanderers playing watchable football would be a huge boost for the comp. Can't see it with Talay, though.

I think that there several people here venturing opinions on the subject based on very little knowledge. But, hey, that's the joy of the internet. Every opinion, no matter how half-arsed, gets its time in the sun, like a lizard on a rock.
Was there 24 hours ago.... and like you say, just an opinion.

Although shit-hole IS a little harsh... Rundown is more apt.

Yes, but of the total surface area of the city, how much did you actually spend time in - not just eyeball as you drove past? And what percentage of the city did you even drive through? Full disclosure: one of the subjects I teach at uni in the present incarnation of my working life is critical thinking. And I know this is only an internet forum, but as a species, we would be much better off being more considered in our thinking before passing poorly informed, ad hoc judgments.

Over a million people live in Auckland. Why insult them by casually running the place down on the basis of passing and very partial acquaintance?

A deeply negative aspect of the internet lies in the way it has enabled a kind of digital road rage, where people say what they like, safe from consequences.

Keep the talking down to people to your UNI students.

um... ok...

You know what i am talking about. These were the principals used by Liverpool in the seventies and eighties, when they were the best team in Europe.
Yeah mate , but crafty winger thumping it into the big lump centre half from a corner was ALWAYS around even back in those days..

I dont mind football evolving, one of the things I like about the WC is to see how different countries play the same simple game...
