The big gap between best and worst crowds (other than Adelaide) suggests there is reason to be confident that there are a lot of fans that could be persuaded to go to games. A look at the figures if the worst crowd number was half the best suggests that. Only Adelaide comes close.

The same cannot be said about the Dub unfortunately, which saw an approximately 14.8% decrease in crowds from last year to 191,264 from 224,420.

Last year excluding finals was 8,788, this year 8,447.

Ofcourse last year also had the waste of space Western United dragging the average down.

I really liked aker as a player but that's genuine hatred I don't get why he and people go out of their way to hate on it. I think these days the players would be more open to football

TBH I rarely see this from other sports apart from AFL and I wouldn't think much has changed except that the A-League is going through a bit of a lull. Watch the angst rise if we see a good World Cup and Asian Cup and the ALM kicks off a bit better.

I used medians for the Championship because of the small data set and to minimize the effects of opening round boosts and bad weather. And I think medians are usually better to show your everyday expectations, over averages.

So the median of APIA was 3624. The median of Macathur this season was 3621. Also consider one is a full season so the numbers generally decline, but also a higher quality league/opposition so the numbers should be higher ⚖

Speaking of Championship attendances, if anyone has the missing qualifying final attendances please let me know. I have 4611 for APIA's match, but the other three weren't published at the time.

i think it would probably be comparable as you say, but more sustainable and in more appropriately sized and in Marconi’s case club owned venues. Imo macarthur don’t deserve to have an a league license under the current model, but if they are in then just open the books to anyone who wants to apply. The exclusion of the traditional clubs is no longer justifiable as the bar to entry/minimum accepted standard has been substantially lowered by the MacArthur and western’s presence in the league

Let’s also not forget that Macathurs average there is also helped substantially by the visits of Sydney fc and wanderers which are typically their biggest home crowds of the season

Yes there’s some inconsistencies re the reported championships crowd figures, separate official sources gave different numbers for the same game a few times. Hard to know which figure was as the true one. Fwiw I was at that game and it looked like ~4K to me

Fa had an algorithm of ticket sales plus 15 percent for their sales which is a more conservative estimate than what clubs did
