The Auckland keeper did more to burn off Hall than anything else in that moment. Totally stopped Hall from committing at the same time as blocking him from doing nay better.
Auckland lost the game on their keeper's actions and choices. Their defence, press and attacking combinations kept them in the game until it didn't.
Bergers' keeper kept them in it. Their wasteful actions in attack kept the game even, especially off the back of their fantastic moments of play.
Very even game until the last 15 minutes - both sides playing such a similar style of football but that making the game an enjoyable challenge all night rather than cancelling each other out.
You are using Bonetti's Defense against me, ah?
I thought it fitting considering the rocky terrain.
Naturally, you must expect me to attack with Capo Ferro?
Naturally, but I find that Thibault cancels out Capo Ferro. Don't you?
Unless the enemy has studied his Agrippa... which I have!
Both teams had dominance and a few squandered chances and I can't actually say Bergers were outright better - other than on the scoreboard at the end where it counts. Equally physically strong, fast and resilient defences for both teams.
It took awhile for Auckland to wake up to the one touch fast ball movement into goal scoring chances by Bergers. You can see how any team would struggle against that if they weren't prepared and breathing the same air as their immediate opponent.
Good game and while it could have gone either way I think it was Bergers' night tonight fair and square.
