Hot take but I can see why Sarah Hunter couldn’t make it at Paris FC. She’s been bang average this season.

Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC closing out A-League Women matchday 14 with a scoreless draw in the Big Blue, whilst Wellington Phoenix defeated Adelaide United 3-1 in the other game today courtesy of goals to Makala Woods in the 15th minute and a brace of goals to Brooke Nunn in the 18th and 86th minute. Isabel Hodgson scored the only goal for Adelaide United in the 87th minute.

Masterclass from Heather Hinz. Unfortunate we couldn't get a winner though. It’s progress though: we need to get a good win over Glory and Wanderers though then go on a good run. We've got Roar, Canberra and Roar again before the Asian Cup. We cannot lose any of those games.
 
Heather Hinz gives an American perspective on the A-League. She notes how aggressive and physical the A-League is, especially with our tackles. She played in the NWSL prior to this, so she's implying that the US is less physical than Australia. Could this be why Matildas are preferring European moves to American moves?

I don’t think the ALW is overly aggressive but maybe lacking in skills that lead to compensating via more physical play.
I don’t think our players are choosing Europe over America, many of the Matildas have played in the US but, maybe, there are greater opportunities to be had by moving from Australia to the UK or Europe.

I think you're right about opportunities, and yeah even thouvh many Matildas *have* played in the US, they've mostly left for Europe. Only two left as of now.

I think Sydney FC will have a chance at getting their first win in A-League Women since November especially with Mackenzie Hawkesby returning from injury, but their game will be against a Perth Glory side looking to bounce back from their first loss at Sam Kerr Football Centre and could be pivotal for how the Sydney derby later in the week pans out as Willa Pearson is on the cusp of having to serve a suspension for too many yellow cards.

Melbourne City's A-League Women matchday 15 game against Adelaide United has been postponed to January 31st due to extreme heat, with kickoff set for 4:30pm AEDT. It'll be the first meeting between the two sides this season after the City home leg initially scheduled for December was rescheduled to March, following the conclusion of the league's break for the Women's Asian Cup.
 
The Indi dos Santos–Riley Tanner linkup will be so fucking peak.
