Something of the forgotten yet crucial game in our 2006 group.

Japan still could've qualified with a big win over Brazil with the Australia Croatia game being a draw. 2:0 Japan 1:0 Croatia would've sufficed too.

A draw wasprobably a fair result, but how the heck was that a 0-0 draw haha

Remember watching not entirely sure what I wanted but more for Croatia not to win as Japan surely weren't going to beat Brazil.

The Brazil Croatia game was 'just' 1:0. I remember it as a heavy eyed late game and the first in Berlin overall.

That too. Different times to 2017 when we played Iraq in Iran. If Bozza were ambassador it'd probably be ok. Shrieking through the hotel reception like in 97.

I don't like these weird gaes being held in China or India. I'd much rather have something a bit more serious in Europe.
 
A few years ago, probably between the group and UAE playoff, I was really worried we'd have a national team of payers who'd be indifferent and just overwhelmed by the developments in Asia and world football and we'd fall off totally. Thankfully then we cut the deadwood and one may argue some of the older guard like Sainsbury needed to go. Not scapegoating Sainsbury just an example I can think of.

We then had Rowles come in undee the most intense pressure and play a simple effective game and then have a great world cup being so raw. Now we've got these above lads coming through with fuel to burn. The best part is that they care about doing well. There's pride in actually delivering. Really exciting times.
