why not "Pixelated logos are for pussies, ole ole ole".." You're just a shit Brisbane Roar" would work better.
To the tune of Guandanamera?" You're just a shit Brisbane Roar" would work better.
You're just stealing Nikola Tesla's invention. You're just Oakeigh in disguise.![]()
That would rile me up no end. You're just Oakeigh in disguise.![]()
AFL practically stole the Brisbane Lions name from the soccer club in the mid 90s. AFL said, "Whatcha gonna do about it, sue us?" And the Lions soccer club said, "Yes!"Lions won the license and were required to change name due to Brisbane lions and the AFL. Thus the name roar.
But wasn’t it “Queensland lions” as opposed to Brisbane, why couldn’t they play under that name? they were before…ah well, it is what it is, I’ve said my piece before re my thoughts about the “roar” nameAFL practically stole the Brisbane Lions name from the soccer club in the mid 90s. So the AFL just gave the soccer club somewhere around $1m to shut up and go away but give us your name.

The soccer club was "Brisbane Lions" until 1997 when the AFL barged in with a Brisbane Lions. The soccer club then changed it to Queensland Lions until the A-League started when they changed it to Queensland Roar. In 2008 I think they split into Brisbane Roar (when North Queensland and Gold Coast entered A-League) and Lions FC (joining their premier league). But wasn’t it “Queensland lions” as opposed to Brisbane, why couldn’t they play under that name? they were before…ah well, it is what it is, I’ve said my piece before re my thoughts about the “roar” name

No, Brisbane Lions changed their name to Queensland Lions in the late 90’s (96 or 97 I think) when Brisbane Lions AFL club was started. Queensland Lions won the rights to enter a team in the A League when it was formed, and consequently created Queensland Roar. As a result of this Queensland Lions were removed from the top division of the local competition (can’t remember what it was called then, maybe Brisbane Premier League) and were forced to compete in a lower division. When Queensland Lions sold off the Roar licence, they were then allowed to-enter the top local division again.Lions won the license and were required to change name due to Brisbane lions and the AFL. Thus the name roar.
The roar trained at lions for the first two seasons but any connection between the two clubs was gone by the end of the second season.
As a Roar supporter, i hope they do well in the semi in the same way I hope Victory and Adelaide do well in Asian this season etc.
I hate them just as much as I hate Olympic/City/Power etc. due to my
Duels with those clubs when playing but I don’t hate them as much as I hate Moreton Jets or Albany Creek City or Moreton Excelsior or whatever they wanna call themselves this week.

Lions will be embarrassed to be holding up the trophy under that onslaught. If it’s a South v Lions semi they are going to cop a ‘You’re just Brisbane Roar in disguise’ insult chant from CC
They never found the prick who drew that circle on the wall. But wasn’t it “Queensland lions” as opposed to Brisbane, why couldn’t they play under that name? they were before…ah well, it is what it is, I’ve said my piece before re my thoughts about the “roar” name

Sung to Clementine would cut it nicely. You're just Oakeigh in disguise.![]()
Ah yes, you are right. The only senior sides they had then, I think, were competing in the “community” competitions, whatever they were called then.BPL back then.
Couple of corrections, they never competed in the lower division. They had sides in the junior comps but never in the “premier” division for their top and ressies during this period. They came back via division 1 which was somewhat controversial given sides had left to go to the QSL.
