FIFA WC 26 - Other Nations LIVE Match Thread ⚽

Who do we want to win? Spain with their first win in 16 years or Argentina to settle the GOAT debate? I kinda want Spain to win it despite their federation having a disgraceful recent history.
Spain will lead early on in the World Cup final but Argentina will inevitably come from behind and get the job done to win back-to-back titles, announce to the world that Lionel Messi is the undisputed greatest of all time and let everyone know that you can never write them off.

Unfortunately the board of FA will squander money on junkets, protecting their backsides against legal claims and plumping up their own seats so we are stuck with what is there at the moment.

We'll get another powerpoint presentation.

" Applying South American Footballing Esoteric Culture to Strayan Sokkah Grassrooters "

plus a consultant.

That will cost 10 million dollars.

Argentina commentator:

What are you on about here? Is this a "thing" in real life or some sort of internet tik tok fantasy world?
It's not just with Messi. It happens with Ronaldo and Mbappe too. So many have become player supporters as opposed to team supporters, and only want a team to win for the individual player.

You mean to tell me all the people walking around with Al-Nassr shirts follow the Saudi league.

You’re right, there’s definitely a player fan culture now. It’s absolutely fine to like players or to pick favourites. It’s even fine to start supporting a club because of a player you like. But if you’re only a fan of players not clubs and especially if you only like one player then it’s disingenuous and obsessive.

exactly right... bit NO the "gentlemanly British" would never resort to the "dark arts" like the wogs would they?
Football being a working class game wouldn't really be gentlemanly anyway. English cricket also has skewed views on the spirit of the game.

Yeah but that's really just 15 year olds surely? Or people that have no interest in football past the cultural phenom aspect.

Not opinions that anyone that has even a reasonable care for the game would think about.

The Fan boy stuff is so obvious but it's alright if it goes I've people's heads. Depends on your news feed I guess.

Football was NOT a working class game, at least not till the Poms finally accepted the Scot factory players coming down to England and getting paid to do so. It was very much much founded on the principles of upstairs/ downstairs Downton Abbey shite.
