I just don’t think it helps grow the standard of play, I’d rather see the best teams win the league via the quality of play rather than fluke to win a one off game.
It was Aucklands first win at home in 6 games which proves this point.

I get the grand final is important but that was a poor game of football so I’m not sure if it will get people hooked to watch the league next season.
Show me a good final and i will show you 15 bad ones. FA cup final last weekend springs to mind.

Add pro-rel and I’m sure it will add more meaningful games alone, finals is just another cup which I understand the context of how important it is here.
This is the problem with change. It's often implemented as a complete 180. Might it be worth trialling one season without a finals series to see what happens?

While I get we shouldn't muck with our sport, small probes might be the better way to see what works and what doesn't. This everything or nothing approach leads to executives not wanting to lose face and refusing to go back.

The mixed order penalty shoot-outs. Do they still exist? Was that just a trial?

It’s shows my point, it’s a one off game to decide the champion.
Why put emphasis on the league when you can win a one off game to decide the champion?

Congrats to Auckland but a scrappy game won’t help the broader picture of a league struggling to gain attention.

If they want one season without a finals series then they also need to be implementing simultaneous kickoffs on the last matchday at the same time though.

I won’t remove finals, just add value for winning the league.

For starters stop calling it the minor premiership, that’s already a issue when when the broadcasters already try to devalue the league with that.

The a-league grand final is equivalent to winning the cup final which should be a show case event for event goers like tonight, I want teams prioritising the league which is the mature way to grow the standard of play and league overall.

Calling it a Champion over a grand final win takes the shine away in my opinion.

I think NZ teams will dominate the ALM/W for a few years until the Australian clubs can catch up. Christchurch def needs to come into the league at next expansion.

You say this but an NZ club hasn’t come close to winning anything in the Dub other than this season’s grand final where City comfortably won. Auckland are also the first Kiwi team to win anything at all in Aussie soccer.

The Aussie clubs are exporting more talent as evident by the fact that the All Whites and even the Football Ferns still have multiple A-League players in their squads including diaspora such as Lachie Bayliss (born in Darwin) and IPR (born in Auckland but raised in Brissie).

That wouldn't be an issue if the majority of matches were played between Auckland and Adelaide.

I'm not sure there's enough reward in incentive available to cover all. Are finals and cup byes enough? Players won't care about money awarded to their club.

Just having the right to say you won't the league and you'd think and ACL spot would be enough.
