CCM under APL control

I think we can distinguish between provoked violence (e.g John punched Dave because he said something racist) and unprovoked violence (e.g John's team lost so he punched Dave).
Assault is assault, HSF. . There is no distinction. Something said does not justify causing physical harm to another human being.

So, if someone said a lot of unimaginable things to your young daughter, it would not permit you to batter the cnut ? Even the police turn a blind eye to shite like this.
Yeah I think when people bring kids or partners into this type of shit then the person saying it had it coming for them. Not saying that violence is the answer but come on, there's a line you shouldn't cross.

From Wikipedia about the Australian Open, 2007 (can't find links to newspaper reporting):

Factional fighting on day 1

On 15 January 2007, around one hundred and fifty Australian youths of Serbian, Croatian and Greek origins were ejected from the Open after brawling with one another in Garden Square at Melbourne Park. The brawl reportedly developed after fans taunted each other with nationalist slogans. According to The Age newspaper, twenty police tried to quell the disturbance, which allegedly developed after an informal understanding between some Serb and Croat fans — that the two groups would not attend on the same day — was broken. The two opposing groups were ejected out separate exits and escorted away from the venue in opposite directions by police. No arrests were made, and no charges were laid against any of the participants.

The Greek supporters protested that they had not been involved in the taunts exchanged between the Serb and Croat contingents, though The Age reported that some Greek supporters had sided with some Serbs and chanted, "Greece, Serbia! Greece, Serbia!" and "We must support our Orthodox brothers". Serb fans claimed that the violence had been provoked by Croat use of the Croatian national flag, which in their eyes carried connotations of Second World War fascism, while Croats claimed that the violence was provoked by Serbs shouting anti-Croat, pro-Serb chants.

A Croatian supporter suffered minor injuries in the ethnic brawl after being hit with a Serbian flagpole. People wearing Croatian or Serbian national colours were subsequently refused entry and the next day featured heightened security. Police in Victoria said that this sort of behaviour was never seen in the tournament before.

This was also happening at the NSL games.
From Wikepedia about the Lambing Flat Riots of 1861, equally as relevant.

In ten months of unrest at Burrangong, the most infamous riot on the gold fields occurred on the night of 30 June 1861 when a mob of between 2,000 and 3,000[4] European, North American and Australian-born gold miners attacked about 2,000 Chinese miners[4] and drove the Chinese off the Lambing Flat, and then moved on to the Back Creek diggings, where 150–200 Chinese were encamped, they went about destroying tents and looting possessions.[5] Many of the Chinese were cruelly beaten, but no one was killed.[5] About 1,000 Chinese abandoned the field and set up camp near Roberts' homestead at Currowang sheep station, 20 km away. There were two triggers for the violence: in Sydney the Legislative Council rejected the anti-Chinese bill, and a false rumour swept the goldfield that a new group of 1,500 Chinese were on the road to Burrangong. The police arrived in the days that followed, identified the leaders of the riot, and three were arrested two weeks later. The mob's reaction was an armed attack on the police camp by about a thousand miners on the night of 14 July, which the police broke up with gunfire and mounted sabre charges, leaving one rioter, William Lupton,[6] dead and many wounded.

With respect, HSF, neither you nor Suth Bear are thinking this through. I have a karate black belt and have been involved in the art for many, many years. For some years I had my own dojo until moving counties necessitated giving it up. Because of my training I have great respect for, and caution regarding, what damage can be done to the human body, and also regarding the legalities of the use of force. All my training and the training I have imparted to my students is that you use physical force ONLY when force is used against you.

In regard to Sutherland Bear's example, no one can be sure how they would react in that situation, because emotion is unpredictable, even though I have spent many years training to be detached under pressure. However, I can be sure of two things: firstly, under the law, if the father attacks that person saying vile things, it is assault, not self defence; secondly, my training indicates that the father should remove their daughter from the situation, not physically attack that person. Witnessing the physical attack may well do more harm to the hypothetical child than anything that was said. And then of course there is the possibility that the father may come out worse from the attack. Physical confrontations are unpredictable: even a highly trained martial artist can be quickly undone by a knife, for example.

The best path is to involve the police, not to take the law into your own hands with uncertain consequences.

 • Offensive Language: Using offensive language in a public place or school is an offence in many jurisdictions (e.g., Summary Offences Act 1988 (NSW)).

Suth Bear talks about 'hammering' someone way, way too casually.

No, he doesn't, he only talks the law of the jungle.

If you don't want battered, then shut your mouth, or don't raise your hands. I believe the bible calls this, " an eye for an eye "

I did get the impression that Gosford is the 'ugly step child' of the area.

Unfortunately the stadium is plonked right there! Hehe

The stadium is in a perfect spot though in many ways and could be a massive precinct of development and restaurants and cafe's and nightlife along the water. Except all they have is, the central coast leagues club which is a dump full of pokies those grotty streets that are directly behind the club. The local council is a good start for that shitshow of an area however they're too busy being in 500 million dollars debt to notice.

Fair point, care to elaborate?
No more than to say there are some interesting articles from the Australian Financial Review where he is mentioned and the interview with Greek radio makes no mention / does not address the matters raised in those articles. Without judgment, surely those articles would at least be of interest in performing a Fit and Proper Person Test.
