Assault is assault, HSF. . There is no distinction. Something said does not justify causing physical harm to another human being.

Yeah I think when people bring kids or partners into this type of shit then the person saying it had it coming for them. Not saying that violence is the answer but come on, there's a line you shouldn't cross.

A Croatian supporter suffered minor injuries in the ethnic brawl after being hit with a Serbian flagpole. People wearing Croatian or Serbian national colours were subsequently refused entry and the next day featured heightened security. Police in Victoria said that this sort of behaviour was never seen in the tournament before.

With respect, HSF, neither you nor Suth Bear are thinking this through. I have a karate black belt and have been involved in the art for many, many years. For some years I had my own dojo until moving counties necessitated giving it up. Because of my training I have great respect for, and caution regarding, what damage can be done to the human body, and also regarding the legalities of the use of force. All my training and the training I have imparted to my students is that you use physical force ONLY when force is used against you.

In regard to Sutherland Bear's example, no one can be sure how they would react in that situation, because emotion is unpredictable, even though I have spent many years training to be detached under pressure. However, I can be sure of two things: firstly, under the law, if the father attacks that person saying vile things, it is assault, not self defence; secondly, my training indicates that the father should remove their daughter from the situation, not physically attack that person. Witnessing the physical attack may well do more harm to the hypothetical child than anything that was said. And then of course there is the possibility that the father may come out worse from the attack. Physical confrontations are unpredictable: even a highly trained martial artist can be quickly undone by a knife, for example.

The best path is to involve the police, not to take the law into your own hands with uncertain consequences.

  • Offensive Language: Using offensive language in a public place or school is an offence in many jurisdictions (e.g., Summary Offences Act 1988 (NSW)).

Suth Bear talks about 'hammering' someone way, way too casually.

The stadium is in a perfect spot though in many ways and could be a massive precinct of development and restaurants and cafe's and nightlife along the water. Except all they have is, the central coast leagues club which is a dump full of pokies those grotty streets that are directly behind the club. The local council is a good start for that shitshow of an area however they're too busy being in 500 million dollars debt to notice.

No more than to say there are some interesting articles from the Australian Financial Review where he is mentioned and the interview with Greek radio makes no mention / does not address the matters raised in those articles. Without judgment, surely those articles would at least be of interest in performing a Fit and Proper Person Test.
