Alen Stajic speech on Australian football

Jesus mate, I love a good fried breakfast, and most of the stuff in that photo looks pretty good, but that "square" sausage (obviously the proprietor of the cafe where that photo was taken was geometrically challenged) looks distinctly unappetising. The phrase "dry as a dead dingo's donger" comes to mind!!!
Au-contraire, it is far from dry. Even better when HP sauce is added. Square sausage's proper name is Lorne sausage.

Blah Blah Blah ..... @Robbos If you dislike something BECAUSE of race (real or perceived) then that is by definition racist... if you arent intelligent enough to even concede that then I shouldn't expect you to be honest enough with yourself to answer the very basic question I have asked you over and over again on this thread:

You are NOT explaining yourself, I want specific instances of border disputes, rivalry and ww2 era nationalism between Australian Championship clubs... Name them and shame them.

YOU made a bold statement, I disagreed, if you have any integrity you will back up your argument, otherwise you are just lying... which is it?
If your background is not Greek or Croatian, then most likely someone would not follow a team called Sydney/Melbourne Croatia, South Melbourne Hellas, or Sydney Olympic.

And followers of those clubs, could you truly say that you would follow Sydney Olympic or South Melbourne Hellas if your heritage is Croatian, Macedonian, or Serbian? Or Sydney/Melbourne Croatia if your background was Serbian, Macedonian, or Greek? The answer almost universally no.

I might be wrong but I think that’s what Robbos was alluding to?

We have plenty of non-croats who support Sydney United.

There is a group of lads who are from England that come most home games.

Yes its a small percentage, but its not uncommon.

Yes but his point is you wouldn't see a Croatian or Greek supporting a Serbian or Macedonian team.

He's 100% correct about that.

Thank you see this is what I'm saying & from my original comment I was talking about my opinion,I wouldn't.

I don't actually believe you are racist towards anyone, at least not on purpose.

I just hate that you perpetuate a racist argument with out even admitting why.

You're STILL not answering the question though.

Don't you stand by your convictions?

FFS, WTF!!!!

I don't want to name & shame, I wasn't talking about Australian championship clubs, I just gave my opinion on why I don't want to support certain clubs, Personal opinion, here is what I said;

I don't really want to follow clubs who still chant another country's name Sth Melbourne Hellas during the games and others that like to show which side of WW11 that they grandparents did. Sydney United 58 FC, I gave you example above.
And clubs who's biggest rivals are other ethnic clubs who are rivals because of border disputes in Europe. Greece, Nth Macedonia & Serbia, Croatia.
I want to watch football played by Australian clubs that embraces the multi-culturalism country that we are. I want to follow a club that embraces us all Aussies, whether our heritage is English, Greek, Italian, Chinese, Serbian, Japanese, Lebanon, Iran or even those scummy Portuguese.

Now this is not how it should be, but my own opinion, I don't want to, now this seems to upset some of Sth Melb fans, not sure why.

Thanks Simon Hill,

Not surprised to see the support from the usual suspects for this "universal truth" .. but still saddened that such 1950s mentality still exists in this country.

What I would like to know is what you propose the clubs called Sydney/Melbourne Croatia, South Melbourne Hellas, or Sydney Olympic do about it?

I guess you propose that when the season starts up again we will have to go around to all the non-Greek/Croatian Australian members and refund their memberships because a couple of racists on an internet forums are adamant they don't really exist as people? Or do you want us to have our Australian members change their surnames to better fit your narrative, or perhaps wear a badge on their clothing to identify them as having revoked their Australianess?

It might be a bit hard to convince our newest supporters in the State Parliament of VIC, especially after their little kick around yesterday but clearly, according to your wisdom. Ben Carrol, John Pessuto and Bronwyn Halfpenny are of Greek background already? or are you saying the are imaginary people, sorry I can't tell?

Robbo, mate I respect you enough to let you make your own decisions about who or what you prefer.

What I cant swallow is the stretching of the truth and the half lies that led to people who really have no idea to draw conclusions and perpetuate bullshit in order to push some twisted agenda about what our future is moving forward.

You can say whatever you want but the below is true regardless of what you say.

  • South Melbourne Hellas is NOT another country's name.... the clue is in the "South Melbourne" part.
  • Our biggest rivals are a Melbourne club founded by Greeks and one founded by Croatians, both of whom we do NOT have a border dispute with.
  • A growing larger majority of our members are NOT 1st or 2nd generation Greek Australian infact most of our new members have NO Greek heritage whatsoever... Some of the most passionate fans, and the ones who wave Greek flags in the terraces (and I can attest to that because I see them week in week out in the middle of winter when there are only a foew hunderd of us) are 100% not Greek..
You don't like it or feel a connection to it and thats fine but many many others do... By making up lies about the "effnikz" by people who should know better you enable feeble minded 20 year old half wits to come out with labels and half truths which not only hurt our chances of survival but the Aleagues as well.
