World cup 2026 Draw

Tunisia-Japan will kick off at midnight ET, which is 11 p.m. local time... and is probably that late for two reasons chiefly:

  1. Monterrey is one of the hottest cities at the World Cup
  2. The time difference to Japan makes it better for the Japanese TV audience
 
Got to get my head around. Wikipedia initially had matches and stadiums set last night. I'm sure a lot of people rush booked things and now we've seen lots of matches flipped around?

Only 54k capacity for the match in Canada.
The 3 cities, Vancouver, San Francisco and Seattle are not great.
San Francisco has some good tourist attractions outside the football, but the others not so much.
Also weather wise, the 3 worst cities.

I have zero interest in setting foot in Trump's America but I did feel a fleeting regret yesterday when I saw the venues. I would've been happy to go to those three cities - not least as they're not too far from each other. Vancouver is a nice place, San Fran is okay... don't know anything about Seattle but wouldn't mind taking a look.

If I did have any tiny interest in going it was snuffed out by Infantino's gross obsequious gesture handing Trump the FIFA Piss Prize.
 
It looks like indoor games allow early kick offs while the heat is up. Still really rough for European TV times. They could've risked it and played at 1pm. Just maybe it won't be a heatwave.

I have been to America twice this year, and never once did i stop to think who is running the country, or anything was different to when Obama, Bush X2 or even Clinton was in charge. You overthink things too much.

I'm not going but it's more a financial thing for me. The cost of the trip just isn't worth it. If I hadn't attended a World Cup before I may think differently. I will be travelling to Trump's America in February to watch the NRL opener with some very old friends (we met in 1980) with a short stop in Hawaii on the way back. I'm not expecting too much difference from previous trips. American immigration officials have always seemed like some of the most officious self important border people I have come across. If they get worse I'll give you a warning when I get back in March.

No I don't. I detest Trump and what he's doing both to America and the world.

He'd probably never heard of football until he realised what it could do for him. As for Infantino... FIFA was already bad enough when it was just a gravy train for corrupt junketeers and tinpot despots. Infantino has now weaponised it to support and normalise evil.

For what VERY little it’s worth, he was a guest at the FA Cup draw in 1992(I believe there’s clips of it on YouTube); plus let’s not forget his mum was Scottish and his dad a 2nd-gen German-American, so they quite certainly wouldn’t have been total strangers to the game.

Plus w/most of his missuses hailing from Eastern Europe originally, there’s that too..
