Summer of Cricket thread

We are filthy Webster was dropped after a successful Test career of 35 runs batting average and 23 runs bowling average.
There was a chance for him this match and sh've been given the nod instead of Inglis. I think the West Aussies recent A century sold CA.

Mate, I’ve watched a lot of cricket. I think Jacks’ catch is one of the best I’ve ever seen!
Did you not notice the four they dropped in the same session, two of which were absolute sitters and a third was not that difficult? Only the drop by Root (which should have been the keepers catch anyway) was a difficult chance.

I’m baffled too.
Bloody Pommies are to blame with their score at all costs batting mentality. Seems to be rubbing off on us. Cam Green w'd never have left his crease in T20 style in the past and I have seen him play some thrilling digs as apposed to his usual more patient ones.

It was a good'n as he virtually changed direction at the very last second before the dive. Only some screamers from Smith and Green beat it from recent ones.

Of course.

One spectacular catch needs to be acknowledged though.

It seemed out of character for Green given how he played before in Test cricket, Baggers.

He was quite patient and relatively circumspect.

I’ve read something somewhere where there was a lot of discussion whether as to include Webster instead of Inglis, or Neser, by selectors.

Neser’s batting average of 28 for FC is quite good for a pace bowler.

Once again he is a better as a back up in a cartel of operating with 2 of the big 3, if one is injured.

In the spells Green bowled that I saw, thought he was most potent after Starc.

Of course I missed some of his bowling and he conceded a few runs, but a few of his balls caused discomfort.

A note on two of the Aussie pace bowlers I’ve seen bowl a lot live.

Neser makes a big grunt after releasing the ball. Doggett doesn’t and appears smoother.

I think it appears there is quite a degree of effort in Neser’s action, which could take a lot out of him. This is likely to reduce his efficacy as the innings progresses compared to some other pacemen.

Last report, South Aus were 5-226 against Tas in the Shield.
Has jumped to 329 now at 8 down with the Tassie bowlers unable to remove the 'spiders' unpredictable Liam Scott.

Blues almost hit 500 in their first inn and at stumps they have the poor old Bulls 7 down for under 100. So a rare win coming for my useless mob. I also have my wish with the dumping of Ollie Davies, but did not envisage his more talented kid brother would take his place. Our selectors may finally be waking up to themselves.

Second new ball will determine our lead size. 150 will be very comfortable, but will settle for the ton..

Starc sure has hit the mother lode first two matches so he must be loving not having to share wickets with his two absent career long bowling buddies.

Lyon being dropped, given the relative Test inexperience of the rest of the attack, apart from Starc, is perplexing too.

If you are reading this Baggers, Kuhnemann is in Brisbane playing Mickey Mouse big bash, whilst Tas are playing South Aus in Shield. Kuhn has played too much white ball recently, over red ball, to be considered for Tests.
Yes particularly of we were leaving Lyon our Webster makes more sense.

I am expect Lyon to play or not play depending on the conditions, but usually with a spin biowling alrounder in the team when he doesn't play.

Starc and Boland are doing a good job with the bat. I would like a lead of 120, but more importantly to bat most of this session.

Importantly they are seeing off the new cherry so batting will be easier after lunch if they reach it unscathed, that is. Is vital that the remainder bat as long as possible to use up valuable day time.
