Summer of Cricket thread

MCC should be closed outside of Test matches. Wont happen of course. My point being that surely no first class cricketer wants to be performing in a virtually empty amphitheatre that when full holds 100K people. In my view a players performance may depend on the atmosphere and support he has from a full stadium.

I think Warner should have been tapped on the shoulder much earlier. Usman is old and hasn't scored many recent runs.

Lyon is still bowling well enough, but Kuhnemnn took more wickets in SL and is only 27.

I agree on Warner, but IMO tap them early and give them a send-off, provided they are happy to retire.

Being an aging side shows up first in the fielding, fielding is an underrated part of cricket.

A great stop builds pressue, and a great catch can win a match.

Often the guys making great stops are young guys.

The flip side is sloppy / slow fielding conceding boundaries. That can sap momentum and confidence.

I thought i rembered Izzy get some runs at the SCC in Jan?
 
really relying on some short pitched bowling on a flat wicket but it actually worked getting crawley out with a feather nick pull shot

runs are very handy in a pink ball test because the collapse is always on the cards. So Australia might be a little nervous

didn't take long for starc to break through
 
Run outs can often be match winning plays - a free wicket and it means you only have to get 9 top order wickets rather than 10

lets see if Oz are good enough to take advantage of that
