Australian Dual Nationals 🇦🇺🏳️

😮
I had no idea! Means they’re club-mates w/🇸🇻 womens’-international Sam Fisher✊🏼 Love to see it😎
Do you follow El Salvador? That’s a very obscure player to keep an eye on if you don’t haha that was a huge move for her and Salvadoran football - before her knee injury. I’m curious to know the quality of the smaller teams in that league like Sassuolo.

Yep, I’m Salvadorean* originally.

*(That’s how I’ve always said it BTW; the other way - which you used - never took off with me)

Haha I actually wrote it like that but my phone autocorrected it haha I married into a Salvi family 11 years ago and I follow all things Salvadorean football.
At home we are culturally very Salvadorean.
To keep things relevant to this thread, my sons are technically dual nationals, so if they ever became good at football, they’d be eligible for both El Salvador and Australia haha. So far my eldest (2 and a half) has already planned his career path (he told me today). He wants to play for: “Baby Jets” (Newcastle), Celtic and then Leeds and the Socceroos haha I think I’ve locked him in.

Respect👍🏼 I think you might’ve said so already on that thread you started a while back in the CONCACAF section😎

Does anyone know much about a player called Ante Suto? Right winger, aged 25, who plays in the Croatian top league. Scored a brace last night, but putting together a decent season (4 goals, 3 assists). Born in Croatia, but I believe has Aussie heritage. He has himself as Aussie/Croatian on insta. Chalked up 150 career appearances in the top two tiers of Croatia. Never appeared for a youth team. Seems to have the versatility to rotate across the wings and through the middle. Interesting...

Christian Volpato came on in the 60th minute and received a yellow card for Sassuolo in a 0-1 loss to Roma in Serie A. Antonio Arena was not in the squad for Roma.

Marin Jakolis was not in the squad for FC Noah in the Armenian Top Flight.
I don't think Marin Jakolis is eligible to represent Australia - he is not really a dual national, only Croatian.

I recall reading an article about him some time ago, I can't remember where now, that claimed that he needed to live here for 5 continuous years before he could be considered as being eligible to represent Australia.

Interesting family that was raised in Australia called the Proctors. Seven siblings, all playing in the Welsh or English leagues, or academy's for the youngest ones. Quite amazing if you want to look them up. Layla, Calum, Dylan and Flynn are playing seniors.

Volpato starts and gets a tidy assist for Sassuolo. He really does look a cut above, it'd be a massive coup if we managed to lure him back to the green and gold.
This year and the last he has had a goal contribution every 100 minutes
His decision making could use work but im surprised he hasnt consistently held that starting spot

Interesting how larger global events are going to affect the whole issue of dual citizen players. It’s not just Croatia bringing back conscription, other European nations have done it or are planning on it.

Also with the anti immigration backlash happening across Europe, nations like Italy and others are moving away from handing out passports to those in diaspora communities with heritage.

I guess we’ll see a rush of people giving up their passports before January 1st. This is a serious thing. I know quite a few dual nationals from Korea and Singapore that had to do military service, in some cases quite unexpectedly and they were taken by surprise.

Young dual national Australian men could face military call-up in a major Croatian defence shake-up.

Well there goes half our catchment!
