General A Leagues thread (Men and Women) 2025/26 season

Seriously you've made your feelings clear that you hate the A-League and its fans so do yourself and the rest of us a favour and piss off back to the NPL section and leave the rest of us who want to talk about the A-League in peace.
I absolutely DO NOT hate the Aleague fans, any football fans for that matter even the ones who need the rules explained to them because they "learned" football off tiktok.. You jump into the middle of a reasonably amicable conversation with your poor attempt at threats and personal insults and then think you can tell me what to do??? hahaha keep swinging chump.

You really are a cunt.

Now you go saying all A-League fans are racist.

Honestly mate, do yourself a favour and go fuck yourself.

Thanks for proving once again that South Melbourne fans are the biggest cunts in world football.

Wow, reminds me of a certain Victorian on this site 🤣🤣🤣

Calling people racists because they don't support a monocultural social club that is a relic of a bygone era ring any bells?

Don't play the victim, sunshine.

My dear friend, no matter HOW popular the Championship becomes (even if by some miracle of miracles, it eclipses the Aleague) the fact of the matter is that the APL controls the Aleague and a big chunk of the voting rights on the FA board... The owners of Aleague licenses will NEVER vote for a system which enables their investment to have even the remotest chance of being devalued by not competing at the highest possible level. Their very existence is predicated by being Aleague participants. It is lunacy to keep on insisting that they would allow more value to be siphoned from their investments at this point...

AND I DON"T BLAME THEM... They invested in a get rich or die trying scheme.. WU died trying, Gold Coast died trying, so did Fury, so did Kings, SO did Western Sydney Rovers or whatever they where called....

You have to see this through the lens of what it actually is, Franchise football (like Aleague and the MLS) is like WWF wrestling when compared to Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling, one is a sport, the other is an entertainment product with investors and financial milestones and obligations....

Blame the "suits" all you like, its not their fault they are "suits" they paid their coin, now they want their pound of flesh.
I think there's a few difference of opinions here.

I see some people don't want p and r because they see it not being viable (that's a whole other argument)

People like myself that want the best league possible are open to p and r.

I dunno if we'll get it but at the moment a league and championship is a niche sport we're both uncool.

So I'd like to see them both being successful. Not sure why that's a controversial opinion.

Also from what I've read/heard it's the pfa that hold up a lot of shit including a transfer system we should have that at the least. Like south Melbourne lost harry to bulls for what? It cost them a spot in the final.

I doubt there was anybody that invested to get rich. If they did they were seriously deluded. Owning a football club (if not by members) for the most part is a vanity exercise.

Maybe mate, but alot of the early franchisers where sold an "investment" product as an easier more cost effective way to get into something similar to MLS (at least according to a couple of Victory shareholders I have chatted to)

Matey, its not the opinion thats controversial, I get where you are coming from but the reality is that its is NOT feasible for only ONE side of the equation, while the league relies on franchise fees and expansion to be viable... .

I wouldn't be surprised if some federations want the Championship to fail as well. There's the latest soccerscene podcast with Cavallucci and he couldn't be less interested in it and turned his nose up. What a bloody battle it is to get it moving along.
lot of noise that this is true to be honest. Hopefully some on record soon

YouTube views of the championship are higher then the ALM this season. So it cant be all that bad for the 2nd division.
oh the second division is going well, I'm just talking about the politics
