General A Leagues thread (Men and Women) 2025/26 season

Hypocrisy? WTF are you talking about mate? How many times do you want me to repeat that the NSL was shit? Was run by amateur people for amateur clubs.... so now what?

I know very well that the NSL didnt have what I want, is THAT your excuse for us, 27 years later, NOT having what the rest of the world finds normal???

The same, lame arse, protectionist bullshit you are trying to accuse me of.
I don’t need excuses, my team is in the top league, and I enjoy it.

My point was, you never cared about what 99% of the world found normal, back in your NSL days.

The protectionist bullshit is NOT something the APL thought up, only repeating history, that you now HATE the entire A league for.

Just admit that you are a bitter old bastard !

It doesnt really matter one tiny bit of shit what Aleague fans think of the Championship, their franchise owners want it to fail, the PFA wants it to fail, and anyone feeding from the trough of Aleague will do their best to either ignore it or throw snide remarks about it as a way of protecting their diminishing cash cow.

Most Championship fans want the Aleague to fail so that it can finally be replaced with an open system of Pro Rel and full Australian football pyramid like 99% of the world has. ... Nobody wants any Aleague franchises to fail... but if they do, I cant say I would be too fussed either.
I wouldn't be surprised if some federations want the Championship to fail as well. There's the latest soccerscene podcast with Cavallucci and he couldn't be less interested in it and turned his nose up. What a bloody battle it is to get it moving along.

I am not laughing, well, maybe at you i am.

You really know how to garner support on these pages for everything PRO/REL, with your constant attacking of all things A league, like it was their fault, that your club no longer competes at the highest level.

Maybe try being a wee bit positive, and you may get a lot more support for your cause.

And i am on record as supporting your cause, just got no idea how they can financially implement it. Shutting down the league is also NOT the answer.

Over to you for some positive ideas, not your current wet dreams.

I'm not really arguing with you because I agree if a league and championship are both popular well probably get p and r.
My dear friend, no matter HOW popular the Championship becomes (even if by some miracle of miracles, it eclipses the Aleague) the fact of the matter is that the APL controls the Aleague and a big chunk of the voting rights on the FA board... The owners of Aleague licenses will NEVER vote for a system which enables their investment to have even the remotest chance of being devalued by not competing at the highest possible level. Their very existence is predicated by being Aleague participants. It is lunacy to keep on insisting that they would allow more value to be siphoned from their investments at this point...

AND I DON"T BLAME THEM... They invested in a get rich or die trying scheme.. WU died trying, Gold Coast died trying, so did Fury, so did Kings, SO did Western Sydney Rovers or whatever they where called....

You have to see this through the lens of what it actually is, Franchise football (like Aleague and the MLS) is like WWF wrestling when compared to Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling, one is a sport, the other is an entertainment product with investors and financial milestones and obligations....

Blame the "suits" all you like, its not their fault they are "suits" they paid their coin, now they want their pound of flesh.

What I do or don't say on these pages has three fifths of fuck all to do with anything mate... Jump up and down all you like...

The "positive idea" you crave from me has already started with the Championship... a first tiny step in a long journey towards legitimate football...

FFS, you are the only one jumping up and down.

The PFA aren’t against the Championship and there’s been very few snide remarks about it?

If you think the AL failing will result in a full pyramid with P&R forming overnight, you’re dreaming.

Oddly silent about its very existence too... As is ANY Aleague aligned media like the Roar and old Prince Flopari.

If the Championhsip blossoms into a fill H&A league with pro rel to it from the NPLs below that IS all we want.... If some of the A league franchises chose to join the 99% of Australia football great, if not, that's their prerogative... The ALeague stands alone... if it lives or dies, doesnt really matter much anymore. The ONLY thing that does matter is that currently the APL (ALeague) holds sway over what the rest of football can achieve... if it dies soon, at least that one massive handbrake can be removed from football in this country. In THAT respect I want it to die.

So, you think if the A league dies, then the Championship will be the premier league in this country with the same exposure and interest that currently exists with the A league.
Remember, promotion and relegation previously FAILED in this country, including one team not relegated, when it should have. :ROFLMAO: ;) ;)

except one leg is amputated at the knee and NOT allowed to compete at the top level because of ..... well.... something?
As much as I love you as a fellow fan of Football, isn't it time to put that play book to bed? Lowy's vindictiveness got us both where we are. Let's share a drink when Morton Bay entertain South at the end of the Championship rounds, that's if you are able to travel this far north :).

Football360 seems to be a small step in the right direction, but the football coverage in the media in Australia is tiny to non-existent to be constantly disparaging The Roar and Rugari. Football needs any and all coverage it can get in Australia.

Sure, will gladly swallow my words and apologise when both the Roar and Rugari decide to write ANYTHING positive about the Championship (and that doesn't include your contribution which was great btw)

Mate, will gladly share more than one drink... fact remains that as much as I put the playbook to bed, even if South WINS this bloody tournament we still arent allowed to slide our "legs" into the same "pair of pants" as the A league franchises.

Will gladly sing from the same hymn book when we are all on equal footing .... pun intended :P

If the Aleague dies, than YES whatever is underneath that (in this case the Championship) will be, by default, the premier league in this country. How much interest and exposure it has is secondary to the fact it has to unite ALL clubs in Australia... Im not interested in how much money can be made out of football, just how much football can grow for all.

Promotion and Relegation has NEVER failed in this country, It has never really been given a chance to even exist properly or to be done fairly.

Why don't you articulate what it is that you REALLY fear happening here?
