Big Ange thread

No, but that's their choice. I doubt they'd pass up the chance though to tell the English that a Scot was highly successful in their league.

What's wrong with supporting someone, perhaps even regardless of nationality?
It is not supporting you guys do, it's an obsession, Ange, Ange, we love you Ange. The rest of the world supports teams, not players or managers.

Do you think that all of the Spurs support will follow him for the rest of his time ?

Look, do as you please, but others and I don't understand it.

Another Ange fan boy, you Aussies really are a sad bunch.

Do you think that the whole of Scotland cheered on SAF in England with Manure ?
No fanboying at all - I just see it in sports fandom all the time - there's always an excuse for not winning - or a fierce rival winning instead of you.

Deny all you please, but this is fanboying at a higher level.
I call it the Americanisation of sports fandom - Where everyone against you is a hater, and there always has to be an excuse. Have seen it in Formula 1 over the past 10 years, for example.

Ange won the Scottish league. Celtic won many in a row. Doesn't matter that Rangers weren't there for some of those years, or that they didn't perform well for part of that season that is being discussed - they won it.

Is Leicester City's Premier League win worth less, because the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United performed so poorly that year?

Or Greece's 2004 European Championship win, because France didn't make the final?

No.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I support Ange because he is an incredible leader and trailblazer in Australian football.

I also appreciate his views on football more broadly and the position it takes up in society and the community. Results are most important at the pointy end of the game but football is about so much more.

The odd thing is it seems far more strange for someone such as yourself to go out of your way to express your dislike for someone, rather than for us to express our respect for the only Australian managing at the top level on an Australian football forum. The same bloke that won us our only ever international trophy.

But proud to be weird if you say so.

Winning is winning. If the top seeds can't do it then someone else will. Unless it's Liverpool of course where being the least worst team gets you titles.

Who shat in your cereal this morning?

The rest of the world does not support players? Why the heck do we see so many Inter Miami and Al Nassr shirts? I'm sure all those kids grow/grew up dreaming of playing in the Saudi Pro League.

Aussie fans are not obsessed with Ange. Ange has been successful at every club he has gone to. We don't need to obsess over him to prove his credentials. You clearly have a dislike of him from when he was in the A-league or NSL. It's perfectly normal to feel a sense of pride in seeing one of your own countrymen do well in a top league. I do the same thing with Zim players.

No one has to follow him for the rest of time, but it's perfectly normal for football fans to support a specific team and have a like/dislike towards other players or managers. Kante is a perfect example. I'll never walk around with a Kante shirt as it's not my teams, but I like the player and the person.

What’s wrong with wanting to see people from here do well? A foootball nation with not much respect on the world stage.

No shame in being proud.

I don’t like Ange much after he left us but would like to see him succeed. It’s good for all of us.

Kids, fair enough, but grown adults ? I here people say i support Spurs, then he gets sacked and now they support Forest, c'mon, you think that ii is ok to change your team, willy nilly ?

I don't think it's ok to change your team willy nilly, but if you think it's only kids wearing the Messi and Ronaldo shirts, you're kidding yourself. So many people wore the Barca/Real shirts too, yet could not tell you anything about La Liga. Similar thing happened when Beckham went to LA.

It's natural to want a team to do well when the person who is their manager is liked, and likeable.

Also, no one on this forum is swapping teams, they are just saying they want Ange to do well.

Wood turning into a pub player at the worst possible time. Shocking hold up play and that awful touch at the back post which he would finished last seaaon. Forrest just hanging on.

We don't support the club he manages all out. We just want to see him do well there. Once any AA leaves a club I pose interest quickly. I don't think many support Spurs or Forest on here.

Goal was coming, Forrest look terrible
Part of it is their own hangover. Remember they plateaued at the end of last season and lost 3:0 to West Ham at home this season before Ange came in.
