Thanks for doing the AA write ups mate, but do we really need to have a dual nationals write up? It's still too soon for a lot of us re Triantis & Dykes can go fuck himself

Maybe just write up about the players that haven't officially changed international allegiance i.e. Volpato, Robertson etc. etc.?

Nothing to do with Popovic. Triantis made his own decision. He just preferred to play for Greece.
possibly arnie could have been more agressive in the 2nd round of qualifiers playing young players
We don't know if he was 10 out of 10 for both countries or didn't care

all in the past now I guess

if young kids decide to pick another nation they should have to give up citizenship, if we are going to develop you and you choose someone else I dont want to see them back in the a-league after they fail he can go play in Pakistan.

Christian Volpato was an unused sub for Sassuolo in a 3-1 win over Udinese in Serie A.

Antonio Arena was not in the squad for Roma in Serie A.

Liam Chipperfield was an unused sub for Sion in a 0-0 draw with Lausanne in the Swiss Top Flight.

Markus Walker was not in the squad for Nordsjælland in the Danish Top Flight.

Sorry mate, but Popovic was the bloke that brought him into camp from the other side of the world, put him on media duty & decided to not give him an opportunity in either game against low level opposition - he went with Teague instead because he's one of his boys. He basically did the same thing with Segacic - but in his case it was worse because they were only friendlies against the Kiwis

Sure, so do you give back all the tax their parents paid in this country, you know the people that actually paid all those exorbitant NPL fees to begin with? I get the disappointment some may feel or the slight against the beloved national team that for some is so very important. Fact is these boys where born and lived in a country that grants them the right to do whatever they wan't to pursue their own individual dreams... Calling for some sort of "fuck off we're full" ultra-jingoistic, revoking of citizenship is pretty vile to be honest.

If you feel betrayed by someone NOT loving some sort of false dream of what Australia is that lines up with your own interpretation, tough titties, thats life, get over it.

I suspect there was a lot more to do this. After being left out of the first he said he was buzzing and was happy to just be in camp and that he really didn't expect to come in and play. The week after he was talking about a bad experience.

It was Popovic's camp, he is responsible, whether it was Popovic or whether it was the Popovic clique that were coming in. Triantis who had always dreamed of playing for Australia was suddenly unhappy. Was it Popovic, was it someone/something else. It doesn't matter - it was Popovic's camp and his responsibility to blend newcomers into the squad - not give them bad experiences.

It's over now - but there have always been whispers around Popovic squads.

If that was what convinced Triantis to switch then he never had the heart to play for us. Did he think that much of himself that he thought he would just waltz into the team without having trained with them before?

Why would you regard them as low level opposition. They were two must win games against teams only 1 point behind us in the standings?

Citizenship is much bigger than just playing for a football team.

Triantis was on board but he had a lot of noise around him and an idea that wasn't exactly new, playing for Greece. I think he wanted to play his cards and was mostly in for Australia until the Popovic situation pushed him away.

He and his large family were all fiercely for Australia

Then why on earth would you pick Teague!!!

Exactly right.... The way it reads to me was that Greece was the back-up plan... This pile on to a young bloke just trying to make a career for himself doing something all of us wish we were talented enough to even dream of seems silly.

Do you think most of the weight is from Popovic then? That's highly disappointing. Did his agent and coaches tell him a UEFA side may help his club situation more?

It's not just Popovic at the national team but also other coaches who surely could build a positive rapport.

And people think Segecic is sorted. Not until he's officially locked in. Talk is cheap and anything can change with an attractive offer or pisstake from the other end.

Yes - the turnaround in a matter of days points to something happening in that camp. Popovic's camp - Popovic's responsibility.
