The squad was downsized wasn't it? FA article raves on about past players but can't even say who was omitted.
Yes, the squad was downsized from a preliminary 23-player squad to the final 21-player squad so only two players were omitted at the conclusion of the pre-tournament training camp.

Bit ridiculous given how quickly injuries, suspension and fitness can take a toll on a squad. Other tournaments allow 26. Not to mention the tournament presence can spur a player on.

Bit annoyed we aren't taking our best eligible but a handy enough squad. Really keen to see how they go.

Didn't we beat them once and a troll on the old forum totally shut up?
have we beaten nigeria at youth level

still traumitized by their u17s beating us 7-0!

I do remember that people really took out their frustrations with the national curriculum on these kids and seemed to almost enjoy negative results

Nigeria played almost a full line up of there bench players against the Aus U20. Just goes to show the massive gap we have to the rest of the world. We will be lucky to even get a draw out of the 3 group games. Irankunda overlooking the U20 WC is a massive loss for us.

we beat them in the 2019 u17 world cup. tristan hammond and caleb watts were tremendous in that game

Should remind ourselves we have Morgan and not Vidmar so there's a better chance at doing something here. The defence and mids have to be switched on. Too much stupid shit at the back in Asia nearly cost us.

That's right. A remember a certain troll on the old thread suddenly disappearing.

So I guess you'll be betting $1000 against Australia each game?

No i wont be betting anything fk that, cost of living is more depressing then wots coming up for the U20. Do you honestly believe we will get out of the group? A win and a draw would do it but i cant see us getting nether. Cuba would be our best bet for a win if we park the bus and go on the counter.

Youth football teams don't necessarily match their senior teams. It'll be a challenge but we've got a cohesive squad and a good coach. Who knows what Cuba might do to the other teams?

who was he again? I've lost track of trolls

I'm pretty sympathetic if someone vents about the exclusion of traditional clubs and the lack of p&r. I was always a bit more baffled by people going red in the face about the coach courses we have. Even if they are bad, seems a bit of a jerk move to take it out on the kids (or some posters kept coming from anarchy to 442 to have a random dig at decentric after every negative result. That was pretty weird stuff)

Yeah there is a correlation with senior success, but a loose one

you could have a team flog a powerhouse but it mean nothing in the long run, you could also have a team get flogged and have a terrible youth tournament but then have good careers

Results over several cycles matter a lot more than any one world cup
