Introduce yourself here (again)

I haven't talked to Arthur for a long time. I haven't been to South for way too long either - got out of the football habit during lockdown and other than Sunderland I've struggled to get any level of interest since.

I was a mod on 442. Never really spoke to any of the guys off the forum (a couple of phone calls with Decentric, a facebook friendship with another who's 442 name escapes me - and I've probably talked to, or seen, most of the south lads at some point, but wouldn't know who was who on facebook (or here). No idea who (or what) Joffa was.

To be honest, I wouldn't know what to write about. I'm extremely out of touch with regard to the A-League these days. When I saw that Western United had collapsed (as predicted) I read a few articles and noticed that I barely recognised any of the people they were talking about. I think it's tragic what's happened to the competition, even more tragic that many of us could see it coming years before it did.
Yeah has been tragic, well hope u can rekindle some love for oz fooball, as much as it is a place of constant drama

I think there is more talk about the national teams (men's and women's), the NPL, and other football subjects in general than there is aleague talk anyway on here.

will be interesting to see if the a league talk picks up during the season

Well every topic about the a league got changed to p and r or something else. I suppose the league dropping hasn't helped with interest

to be fair no one has changed the club threads or my u23 threads into p&r discussions

Yeah. Maybe people feel more happy to talk about their team in with their own supporters then on here where it's mixed
Nopbody is stopping a Melbourne City thread on here nor will they "derail" it... I presume.... Stop being a snowflake and see if you can find more than 2-3 people to talk about your club :P

Ah, here we go... Benjamin... Former scout, part-time agent, some time journalist, writer, and bloke who talks a lot about football, getting very frustrated when he's right about the bad things; miss-judger of Aaron Mooy, correct-judger of just about everything else football related... Sunderland fan by birth, South Melbourne fan by choice. Sell and manage real estate now - houses are easier to deal with than footballers. Lost the football plot during Sunderland's fall from the Premier to League One, and lockdown football. Completely out of the A-League loop now, but I've been pointed in this direction, so here I am.
Welcome back... Another member of the Hellas Army is always a great addition to the forum :)

Welcome, Benjamin.

It was in my ' to do' list to ring you, and Arthur, to ask you to join this forum. I haven't got around to it. Maybe you can suggest to A that he join us too?

You've got heaps of South Melb mates on here too. Now that SM will be representing Aus, you have a whole new legion of fans supporting SM Hellas - like me!

Hopefully, your selling of houses is easier than dealing with footballers!

Also, it would be good for you to write a short article on Fan View ( a new forum phenomenon) about scouting.

Holy shit. Was literally thinking about you the other day. Was listening to a podcast that was talking about how Goalkeeper transfers worked and they had an agent on. They spoke about scouting and that's when you popped in my head. Glad to see you on the forums. Welcome!

Might be the person we need to tap up for the EPL podcast hosting...

Haven't been involved in a transfer for almost a decade. That seems like another life now.

Podcast? Hmmmm. I'd have to re-write my bio.

I'll shoot a message to Arthur and let him know there's an active forum.

Houses are much easier to work with than footballers (and their parents) - contracts are honoured 99% of the time.

Hi Benjamin and all the old crowd,
Good to be back with you all once again, thanks Benjamin for letting me know about this forum.
A big thanks to those who set up this forum, well done. I had been wondering what happened to the 442 Forum.
I'm not sure how long since I last posted on the 442 forum, but it must be a few years.
Been an interesting last 6 years I'd guess.
In the interim, spent 2019 as South Melbourne FC Admin Manager, did a tour of U16's to Holland thanks to Michael Valkanis, hibernated over COVID. Was on 3XY Radio sports show on Sunday nights over that time, a six year stint with Peter Kotsiris, Ange Koutos and Kosta Paterakis, finished October 2024. Got very tired of it, and I did interview some amazing people, not least James Johnson. Did some Match Commentary as well.
In my former role as a Football Victoria voting zone member, I was able to convince the rest of the members to vote ourselves out of existence and return the constitution were every club that qualifies is a now a voting member, other clubs are associate members. From that I was able to walk away from the game with my head held high, time for others to take up the baton.
Finally my good friend Kokki at Oakleigh Cannons offered me a role overseeing Community teams boys and girls and that has been a great adventure over 2024 and 2025.
And now landed on the Green and Gold Forum.
