The 3 defensive mistakes i noted on rewatch wereI'm up to the 22 min mark of the NZ game.
I've added some new stat categories.
*Turnovers created
*Intercepts
*15 metre ball carries
*Bad first touches
*Outstanding first touches.
* Watching the game live I thought Bos made some mistakes. At the 22 min mark he has made none. His first touch has improved too. Bos has beaten 3 Kiwis in 1 mazy run! He has had 3 individ 15 metre plus ball carries!
* In this new category of recording outstanding first touches, Metcalfe has made 4 already. This is outstanding for a whole game - and he has only played 22 mins!
* Silvera seems lacking in confidence and has made some poor first touches, that have led to ball loss/ turnovers.
* Despite playing in the Eredivisie, Hrustic has been woeful so far. Made a decent touch and pass or two, but loses too many 1v1 s - heading, tackling and body on body duels - and - just causes no closing down space pressure.
* It is frustrating watching the normal Popa Half Press, 3-4-3/5-4-1/ 5-2-3, with minimal squeezing intensity. It gives the Kiwis a lot of easy ball. Yet it is tough to break through at our goal like Wood did. Aus have broken through the Kiwi gegenpress a bit though, with some quick passing sequences. Aus defence isn't being turned around to defend and run towards own goal much.
* Another stat is Degenek is being physically overpowered by Wood in 1v1s.
* Yazbek might be one of the better DMs we have had for a while at more energetically running to opening passing lanes than remaining too static.
* Aus is turning the ball over quite a lot through Izzo's attempted longer passes.
* Circati winning a lot of 1v1s. He is starting to mark Wood more, leaving Deg as the free CB.
* Aus on top for the first 7 mins, then Kiwis from 8 - 22mins.
1) sarpeet singhs long shot came from yazbek and teague leaving too much space between them and the back three
2) at 44 minutes teague follows a player a long way forward and yazbek doesnt compensate by running back. There is an acre of space in zone 14 which they use to get a dangerous shot away
3) at 89 minutes oniell is a long way forward and ambles back. He has plenty of time to get back and defend z14 which again has a hole in it which they exploit a few seconds later with a shot from mcgarry
The 1v1 from wood set up by singh was just good play, though made wprse by circati slipping and wood possibly being a fraction off side
