Aussies abroad 🌍🦘

What resurgence? SL came 12 and 11th in the 23/24 and 24/25 seasons respectively.

In the socceroos his stupidity cost us in the Asian cup semi. Granted his position in a low-block may assist Popa, but he doesn't transition, so his won ball is wasted, as we have seen in recent months.
One can't denigrate an individual's performance because his team featured as a low flier in the league they play, when it is an infinitely superior league to most others that Aussies play in.

Do fans denigrate Circati because Parma are low ranked in Serie A?

Serie A is ranked about 4th in UEFA and Juliper League about 7th or 8th.

That any Aussies are getting regular game time in these leagues is a considerable achievement. Also, O'N was captain. SL needed money. They sold players off.

I haven't seen O'N play club football for SL, but from what I have seen from him for the Socceroos in 1v1 ball winning, ball distribution, handling speed, he is playing well.

He's always on the short list. 2 games stand out. Japan away and Tunisia where he was so calm and didn't have issues. He's a steady player.

I'm glad Miller has delivered and he's favoured regardless of the fitness of Karacic, Strain and others.
I think Miller has kept improving at RB and RWB. He may also be a CB option in time.

Yengi played his best football when he played wide of a front 3 for Wanderers. He is so good at dragging players with him and creating space in the middle for others. He can cut in from the left and shoot. He isn't a lone striker player.

I find this somewhat hypocritical when you dismiss any AA in Scotland bar those playing with Celtic or Rangers.

Always rated Karacic. Thought he was unlucky not to get a chance in Serie A. Captained Lokomotiva last year to what I think has been his best season 34 starts, 4 goals, 4 assists. Filled in at CB a good amount of times. In turn has led to a move to Split. Might be a good option in a back 3. Would be good to have some experience in the backline.

Belgium is an "infinitely superior league"? I think you may need to re-consider your use of the word "infinitely".

That is a pretty big feather in an Aussie cap starting at Hajduk Split. I think they are in a big UEFA club category, similar to UEFA Big Five teams.

For the Socceroos I've thought Karacic isn't quite good enough, but he may have improved if playing for HS?
Recent history suggests that Hajduk Split can't be considered in the category of big UEFA clubs. They haven't qualified for the group stage of a European competition since since 2010-11, when they last qualified for the Europa League. In that group stage they won 1, lost 5.

Last season they were knocked out in Conference League qualifying by MFK Ruzomberok. Who? Yep, I had never heard of them either, they are in the Slovakian league. This season they won their qualifying round 2 tie over two legs, after extra time, against Zira, another club I have never heard of who are from Azerbaijan. Their next qualifying tie is against Dinamo City from Albania.

Big UEFA club? No.

Big UEFA club? No.

Agree with this.

Hajduk are a big club, with a lot of support. But not a big "European" club.

Dinamo Zagreb on the other hand have some sort of pedigree in Europe

My point isn't to denigrate because of the teams performance in the league, it's just to point out that Aidan appearance in the team doesn't seem to increase their standing.

Perfect example of this is my respect for Ballard at NAC Breda, where he assisted in keeping a newly promoted team above relegation.

I just don't see that level of improvement in O'Neill's teams. To add there is a running pattern around GD that can't be ignored, which basically says to me O'Neill can't transition.

Huge love for Devlin on the Hearts boards.

I've always thought him not quite good enough for the NT but it seems he's improved a lot in the last year or so.

Highlights from NUFC's latest U21s match. Kuol played the first half and looked like he was wearing the captain's armband.

Love this call of what Karacic could bring to the RCB position in Popa's team. Wouldn't get into the first XI when Burgess, Circati and Souttar fit, but would be a good squad option as could also fill in at RWB.

Didn't realise Yengi missed another big chance. He'll hit the target 8/10. Damn. More football to come.

yeah I actually thought he was better than milanovic, once he blasts the cobwebs out I think the spfl suits him

In that particular match? That bodes well. We all watch the game but do we really watch? It sounds like Yengi did things that the average fan may not appreciate. Lots no games ahead and a mature manager will persist for now. Kaiserslautern were similar in Hannover but they'll play again and again.

Yengi missed a couple of goals.

Scottish fans are super contentious so they're going to be putting him down as the fall guy. From all accounts it seems like Aberdeen were simply outplayed.

Yeah in that match

the chances werent put on the plate he earnt them from good movement imo. If he never puts those chances in thats a different story mind you

Milanovic catches the eye with his dribbling from deep but i dont think it was very effective to be honest

In any case their midfield was mauled so not much the forwards can do
