One in the eye also for those who want to decry the quality of the AL. The Wrexham juggernaut was just beaten by SFC's kids.

You see this just don’t make sense one bit.
The juggernaut and SFC as all these show games have hardly any start up players and this game both teams made what 10changes around the 60 mark.

It shows how ignorant Australian sporting fans are, get this more turned up for this than the Socceroos vs Indonesia got in a World Cup qualifier.

How come when Victory beat Atletico Madrid they never said local teams are better than La Liga? But when they lose this nothing match they are pro-ams?

Back in 2011 CCM beat Celtic 1-0 on 3-Jul-11. It was like the Wrexham games - pre-season friendlies that meant nothing. However, most Celtic supporters were saying they hadn't played for ages and were ages before they would be playing competitive matches.

The Scots obviously don't know what a long off season is.

I did turn up for this the friendly held at Homebush. I was working in the area and got a family ticket for $30 with my 10 yo, 8yo and 5yo. Pretty cheap night out with the kids.

I don't understand people like him, he clearly doesn't like Australian Football, yet he's continuingly on the Australian football forum.

I'm not a fan of AFL (seagulls fighting over a chip), but I'd never go onto an AFL forum, you give my 2 cents worth to millions of Victorians, West & South Australians who love that sport.

There are many here who follows football but doesn't like the A-League. He doesn't seem to like Australian football at all.

That tells me, it's more of an Australian cultural thing rather than a football specific thing. Maybe, us having such a low population, and in particular a low population density is partly to blame.

Yep I agree.

The same can apply with football in most countries in the world, outside the top 4-5 leagues in Europe, most countries don't have great following in the local leagues, even in Sth America, outside one or two the big derbies the crowds are poor, same as Europe (minus the big leagues).
Everyone gets caught with the top players like Messi, Ronaldo or the top clubs like Barcelona & Liverpool.

Long-term, yes I agree; they’re sugar-hits, but not entirely meritless depending on the opponent&result(see SFC beating Becks’ LA Galaxy in ‘07)

It wasn’t always that way though - in cricket Sheffield Shield was massive back in the day(arguably moreso than BigBash was at the height of its popularity) for instance.
