and you are surprised by this?My issue is the number of people who've turned up for this when it was apparently quite pricey on the arguably most stay at home night of the week and it's 12 degrees. The excuses for people not to go to football are being lifted tonight. They're clearly not there for the football but rather the 'spectacle'.
Of course I'd rather this than nothing at all but it bugs me that a poster campaign with some little Welsh town that put a bit of Hollywood on it can get more attraction for a kickabout than matches that count for something with a lot of our local talent.
to be fair some of that is self inflictedMy issue is the number of people who've turned up for this when it was apparently quite pricey on the arguably most stay at home night of the week and it's 12 degrees. Partly because the build up was seemingly ignored by many or maybe that was just the Australian football crowd. It's more that people don't turn up to A League matches lamenting poor atmosphere when people turning up are what make the atmosphere. Nothing wrong with the quality of the league. There's plenty of it.and you are surprised by this?![]()
I've always desired a second tier but for the complications and issues of getting everything set up for P&R. It irks me you've got A League teams with their generic sort of existence then mixing with clubs that are older but that was always going to be the nature of the club game in Australia. You've got clubs named after entire cities then small suburb names. Not uncommon elsewhere I suppose.to be fair some of that is self inflicted
if we had p and r we could have a story like this with some celebrity buying an npl2 club and getting them promoted up the leagues
nah its the quality and the lack of connection with any community that the franchises havePartly because the build up was seemingly ignored by many or maybe that was just the Australian football crowd. Licences are an issue but clubs themselves need to be managed properly. Absolute rubbish that clubs don't connect with their community. All clubs have strong support and community links but for City, Macarthur and Western United but the good is those 3 play relatively decent football.nah its the quality and the lack of connection with any community that the franchises have
the licenses are passed around like dollar coins
your franchise could be here today and tomorrow it could be wound up and relocated to NZ
Wonderful editing, try posting the whole story next time. BTW , many ,many NSL crowds were less than 900.hahahah well its NO 990 at a 35 thousand seater stadium Ill grant you that....
In the immortal words of
Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis
“We also clashed with schedules of homework, schooling, parenting and the timeslot wasn’t ideal either, at seven o’clock at night, considering kids have got school the next day and [they wouldn’t] be home until ten o’clock. Parents chose not to come.”

Western United CEO responds after lowest ever A-League crowd
Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis says the second-year A-League club is focused on the long-game after his club set an unwanted record for the lowest attendance in A-League history.www.sbs.com.au
I think this is great for all to see what many of us discuss about and the lack of connect !I've always desired a second tier but for the complications and issues of getting everything set up for P&R. MCG the well taken 2nd was by a kid we know from my boys ex school.2-1 to Sydney
Surely not, that wanker, “ Angie’s high line “ told us it would be 6-0 to Wrexham!2-1 to Sydney
The A Leagues all access was great but that was part of the overblown budget wasn't it? Having some kind of down under football thing on Netflix would be good. Yes, Lupi, I know no one would watch it....I think this is great for all to see what many of us discuss about and the lack of connect !
Also confirms the boasting of crowd increase is mostly due to the event derby games for its plain to see most other round games are low avgs but look how many people have bought Wrexham kits scarfs in the crowd.
Netflix is king - instead of keep up APL should invest in a series haha
I loathe the mentality. Smug video game instagram types who'll rave on about PSG and Mbappe while wearing a Yankees cap about how cool it'll be to see Wrexham and how shit Australian clubs are when if they went and had a good look every weekend in whatever tier, they could be pleasantly surprised. These people can't and won't be changed though. They're attending for the image.JS96 Tbh I have no answers what can help change the resistance to follow the game here.
People are so screwed up - the people who do care about the game in general don’t bother with AL yet so many randoms do turn up for an event.
It’s nuts
