We went to a lot of events as well being at the time lived just across the river.
Great moments.

LFC other than singing WE ARE AUSTRALIAN and some events, my other hi point was the liting of the flame. Without wanting to sound bias, it was without doubt the most fantastic one I have ever seen, pity I did not see it live only on telly, still it blew me away ...

Only downside was where our reserved seats were located, usually hi up in the giant grand stands. Needed binocs to see most of the action clearly.

yer - nose bleeders is a challenge but your there main thing.

mega beast back in the day but dogs in other ways - suspension was crap without some work.
What do you get done to it for track ?
Man I used to go to Amaroo and Oran parks alot.
308 would have been great though - oh how I liked L34's more so wanted a A9X but was out of my ball park then.

My 1st car was a '71 HG Kingswood 2tonne roof red 186 engine 3 on the tree.
Was bullet proof beat the utter bejesus out of it.

There were plenty of cultural cringe comedies back in the day, Alvin Purple, Adventures of Barry McKenzie, Barry McKenzie Holds His Own, Alvin Rides Again, Stork. Farcical but quintessentially Australian.

yep that they were, cringe as but thats us, Barry Humphries was the smartest - Les Patterson lol.......
Used to think wtf - the poms would have thought typical convicts lol.........
Alvin and the panelvans haha shagging wagons as we knew them as, today locked up.

This reminds me of being a smart arse in high school and when everyone sat down at assembly after first verse, some of us would just start belting out the 2nd verse

You didn't have to sing it! Just stand up, and many didn't bother to do that.

Saw Farnham at Adcock Park in Gosford. He did a heavier version of Long Way to the Top than AC/DC. I must admit I always thought the almost 9 minute version of the It's a Long Way There (LRB) was one of Australia's best songs (usually only hear a radio edit). Stevie Wright with the Easybeats and solo as well was great.

Saw Thorpey supporting Deep Purple. Gawd they were loud - I thought someone was not only attacking my ears but thumping my chest.

Another obscure one was a Northern Beaches band - Mushroom Planet.

Doug Parkinson- did a better version of Dear Prudence than the Beatles.

During the Olympics hype we'd sing I am Australian at assembly and kids behind me would say 'I am, you're not' Thing is we were a really Anglo school but plenty of continental surnames that pretty much went over our heads.

We kids at boarding school did. One cane whack across the bum if you did not. My older brother and his mates did not sing it.
