Btw you also used to see a similar phenomenon with Melb nsl clubs making those afl style pre game banners for the players to run through

Im pretty sure the tradition started at South with the arrival of a few Scottish player sin the 70s or 80s, nothing to do with AFL mate.

No idea what Victory or Storm do.

I get the place it would have come from. Have said it once and will say it again, afl culture for a long time has been mainstream male culture in Melbourne, probably even more so in the past when it was a more monocultural city. Assimilation and adoption of that culture as a prerequisite were tied together in a way that doesn’t have a one or one equivalent in Sydney

We've been doing it in Griffith in the local league (in the changeroom) for eons..

its the same issues you have reported regards to travel times down your parts etc.......
For eg your the happy Mum/Dad like we were taking our sons (talking Rep) to Southern Branch/Lithgow/Bathurst for games.
We luved doing it whereas many not, time factors/people work yaddayadda.....

Talking Snrs as one posted FNSW NPL is very Sydney + Gong - well of course we got enough Clubs to cover the league and some.
As much as I'd like the variety + a West of Mountains + a Central Coast NPL club + Southern Branch (that has imploded right ?) then one will say what about + Newcastle ?
Where do you draw the lines -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its bad enough time travel north south east west in Sydney on weekends - traffic sucks big time for many.
