Liga Portugal

blows me away B's short is so Arsenal like.
Cicarti - he's ahead in playing good league compared to Irankunda.
Me wonder IF its the right move status wise but you go where your best deal is offered and go from there.
I expect LigaPort will get a lift in viewings Ozzi wise which is cool.

Need to get a TV deal. It wouldn't be expensive.

Yeah great... They've got a bit of singer depth already. Irankunda will have his work cut out.

Right lads tell me everything about the Portuguese league. I'm a benfica and sporting fan 😜

Haha....Benfica and Sporting are proper, proper football rivals....

The big Lisbon derby is one of the fiercest rivalries in European football. Supporting both of them is like trying to be a Celtic and Rangers fan, or for Real Madrid and Atletico. The history, the banter, the family divides.....

Yeah I know it's because of circati and Nestor heading there. Probably leaning towards supporting sporting though

I used to live in an area of South London called Clapham and just to the north of Clapham was a district that was nicknamed 'Little Portugal' because of Portuguese migrants who began settling in that part of London in significant numbers from the late 1960s/1970s.

Anyway they seemed to run a lot of little cafes and restaurants and one cafe was called 'Casa Benfica' which was an absolute shrine to them....

Up the road another cafe was a shrine to Sporting.

Anyway great food in both but the two absolutely hated each other and all because of the football rivalry. You'd get leads of Portuguese football banter off the guys behind the counter!!

I always wonder what it's like supporting a lower team in a league like Portugal or Scotland. People must respect the loyalty

If I recall correctly a lot of lower Portuguese clubs have low crowds and it's just an easy sense of community but a lot of coming and going.

A friend of mine who spends a lot of time in Spain says it's the same with many mid to lower La Liga clubs with fans arriving late, leaving early and being pretty casual to indifferent about it all. It makes you wonder why they turn up at all. A bit like baseball fans. Spanish clubs have woeful away support too.

There’s a certain Portuguese burger joint in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney that had a Sporting poster on the wall decades ago but the same guy still runs it. I’ll have to drop in again.

I reckon it would be all worth it seeing them beat a top team every once in a while

Finished Sporting 3-1 Alverca. Irankunda with two nice passes in the 93rd minute. First one to Doumbia could have been an assist if the finishing was better. Second was a difficult angle. Irankunda should have supported the player with a forward run instead of walking after playing him in behind.

Yep....Rio Ave would be a classic example of exactly what you were talking about.....

They wouldn't be getting 4 or 5 pages of coverage in A Bola or Record every day like Porto, Benfica or Sporting but they’re a proper local club with a loyal supporter base.

And when the big boys come to town it'd be like a cup final experience for them.

I’ve been to a game there. It was before they knocked down one of the ground stands. Feels like a local ground - Leichhardt oval like.
