thats a geat debate in terms of when they become 'men' after the teenage phase, however im talking about purely youth development - club vs club and factoring in varying things like financial outlay.
 
I will agree that Adelaide does punch above it’s weight and probably has historically the strongest football culture outside of Syd/Melb.

The above statement re Adelaide United’s relationship with the local npl clubs is probably indicative of that difference in dynamic between old soccer and new football in Adelaide vs how it is in Sydney and Melbourne as has been touched on in the past. The traditional clubs there seem to have accepted their role as feeder clubs for Adelaide United, where as in Syd/Melb it’s much more of an adversarial relationship/ a rivalry between peers

Goes to show the power that good branding and a name recognition has, for all intents and purposes are they not the same club that’s been going by the Moreland zebras name up until recently when they won their court case for the name/brand rights. No one batted an eye lid at them when they were yo-yoing between npl 1 and 2 under that name, now all of a sudden they raise eyebrows.

Hard to tell from a distance but I have seen some small early signs that the same can be said for the Melb Italian community itself. Hopefully they can use this to relaunch themselves and have mini renaissance
 
Do you think there is an 'absence of NRL team' facet to the choices and development of youth in SA?

Is there perhaps more of a global lean towards football in Adelaide providing a more concentrated pool of footballers?

My personal belief is that this was all kick started by the Aus Championships... Even South games have new, younger faces in the crowd, bringing with it a newer active support. If seen more new flags at recent Lakeside games than Ive seen in total for the past 4-5 years.. I guess the same with clubs like Preston and Burgers. Even Georgies have an "active" now.

As for your paesanos, for what ever reason Avondale's "La Famiglia" must come across as inauthentic because a brand like below has MUCH more cachet with the youngsters.

They’ve since changed the logo again, I don’t know why, this was a good one.

Avondale, I dunno…I don’t think you can make a new traditional club, it doesn’t work like that.

As I say, it’s noticeable re south, you can see the support more closely resembles that of 20 years ago, than what it has for most of the npl era.

Correction no Adelaide is not the "home" of football that I'm afraid is the east coast main hubs of Syd/Melb - it no matter which in avoiding State rivalry banter.
What you have is great youth Dev outlook/outcome no doubt about that (having 1 AL Pro Club to feed into helps) that is great to see over the years But dam imagine IF your town/AU actually had a academy in that case as well.

NPL SA needs to improve if Adelaide is seriously the “home of football” in Australia.

All it’s taken imo is that glimmer of hope that there might be light at the end of the tunnel for these clubs. For the longest time as much as I’ve always hoped for it, the idea that ex nsl clubs might ever return to national relevance or that they might aspire to be more than what they’d become felt like tin foil hat. That’s not the case anymore. The landscape has definitely shifted
