Promotion and Relegation is vital for Football in Australia

matt used to work for the apl and had this idea as a model for p&r

its fine as an in between as long as the criteria is transparent (which makes it negotiable) and any club can get promoted and you had some plan for when you allow relegation as well

you are leaving a bit of growth on the table if you don't let teams go above their level temporarily (some will jump a level, those that won't will produce good players and off field staff for the bigger clubs). Guest licenses would fix that as I said on my pod

You also weaken the 2nd tier (which is the harder tier to sustain) if you don't have jeopardy at the bottom. If you at least had a panel at the end of the season that voted on keeping you if you are bottom 2 you have a perception of jeopardy even if clubs don't get relegated. That's what England did before they had a full p and r system

Yeah I don't mind having a closed NST for two or three seasons, or until expansion is complete, but after that it will get stale. Pro/rel is just part of the sport. Really not a fan of a voting panel though, that won't be popular with fans.

"Corporate" but supports a Premier League team. NPL atmospheres are better because they're at small, suburban grounds. A packed out Sydney Derby has a great atmosphere but if you're in Macarthur's away section it's completely different.
