Agree regarding Conte, he's a ticking time-bomb.....will almost certainly leave the role before or during WCQ's

I do think Mancini only comes into play if Italy are looking for results now.

If we're talking long-term project, then Motta is a better option than Pirlo.

Italy has to improve — missing three World Cups in a row is unacceptable for a country with their history, infrastructure, and player pool. Bringing Mancini back is probably a high-risk, high-reward move aimed at fixing things for the 2028 Euros and especially the 2030 World Cup....

I think Mancini knows the system, the players, and the pressure better than almost anyone. But, the big challenges remain structural.

Serie A’s high average age, relatively low percentage of Italian-eligible players, and historically limited investment in youth development compared with top European nations. Mancini’s first cycle was good at blooding new players; the Italian federation will be counting on that again.

But I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he turned this around very quickly.....

He has the players respect in many cases, usually a clear idea of how he wants to play, and I'd say the emotional drive of someone who feels he still has unfinished business.

Personally I find this to be an intriguing situation and I'm going to make a point of watching his first 3 Nations League games tonsee how he and Italy performs!
