Serie A 🇮🇹

I cannot believe how well Como are doing....

If they get into the Champions League next year it'll be a bona fide footballing fairytale!

Just a few years ago they were in Serie D.

A Champions League debut next season would be insane and a genuine rags-to-riches story in modern football!!

I watched some of the Juve Fiorentina match and must say I was suprised at the difference in ladder position.. That first Fiorentina goal was superb football... I havent paid enough attention to Serie A for the past few years.

Fiorentina are not what they used to be but they were clearly underperforming to be that close to relegation. They have enough solid Serie A players to be a mid table side. These types of results really show the decline of Juventus. They used to have champions in all lines of the pitch and now they don't really have any. A bunch of kids and a sea of mediocrity. Imagine going from Buffon and Chiellini to Di Gregorio and Federico Gatti :D

No longer the Veccia Signora eh?.. Firotentina was always a mid table side, but I have tiny soft spot from the Batistuta days I suppose...

Current Juventus is only big in name and history. I liked that Seven Sisters era of Fiorentina with Rui Costa and Batistuta as well. I always thought they could have won in 99 but Batistuta got injured and Edmundo pissed off to Carnival :D

They also had a good era in the 2010s were they finished 4th a couple of times. Given the decline of Lazio etc and the general mediocrity of Serie A they could probably go back to that level if things break right. Last season they finished 6th so this season has been a bit of a disaster.

I was really into Serie A in the late 80s, the "dutch" Milan and tail end of Diego at Napoli ... n saying that though, I dont mind that the money has dissipated now and the gap between clubs is more even.. I mean Como? WTF where they 20 years ago?

Como shows what's possible with financial backing even if it is Indonesian cigarette money. They were the largest spenders in the transfer market this season which is incredible given they are a provincial club. Also funny how widely hated they are by other clubs even though the league badly needs investment.

And Fabregas deserves some credit as well.

Next season will be the first time in the Champions League era with no Juventus or Milan participating. Sums up how much these former giants have fallen.
yep.
Even though so many backroom politics is involved it is refreshing and good kick up the arse some giants have to experience.
They have twisted through many hoops over the years to avoid carnage.
I am a Juve a long supporter might I say due to some legends of the past though Genoa and Recco are closer to my heart.

This Milan has been a mess since the new American owners came in. These guys literally fired Paolo Maldini. I would argue Milan has never really recovered from selling Thiago Silva and Zlatan in 2012. 1 Serie A title and no Coppa Italia wins in almost 15 years for a club of this stature is just a disaster.

Juve at least had a great era in the 2010s dominating the league and almost winning the CL. Those guys got old and some of them like Buffon, Chiellini etc can't really be replaced. At least they have Yildiz who is a rising star.

Honestly, both of these clubs have way too many players that are not worthy of the shirts.

Much love to Genoa (y) I would love to see Sampdoria back in the top flight, Genoa derby is one of the best, not just in Italy but in the whole of Europe.

Yep can’t disagree on your overview Dinamo.
The last straw juve played purely for cash was cr7.
Filling holes of the sinking ship.
Yes Genoa derby is sensational.
Dam long time re Samptoria now that’s another mighty fallen !
