The commentator referencing "Saka and Mbappe" while the audio was in French suggests they were on a raw or alternate feed without immediate translation/dubbing. It's sloppy when it happens because you get the original audio but miss the English context.

I think the commentator was referencing that they did hear from both of them, we just never saw the Saka interview. When the stream came back on SBS, they were showing Mbappe and he was already halfway through the last question he got. So we basically missed all the post match stuff.

The big three commercial networks would almost certainly butcher it worse with heavier ad loads, more frequent commercial breaks, fewer matches shown live/free, and priority on Australian content or whatever drives ratings over football purists....

But, while he's energetic and clearly passionate about the game that Claudio dude is a but annoying at tumes...

But that's just me and probably because of his noticeable anti-England edge...

You get lots of eye-rolling at their style, highlighting "luck" or physicality over quality, and generally siding against us .

But that might be a broader SBS thing rather than just him. A lot of people say they don't normally notice that but it stands out when you're invested!!

I definitely would have SBS over the other networks because SBS cares about football, and when given the chance, they generally cover it better and fairly.

Yeah, Claude is an interesting one. He clearly knows the sport, but at times I think he struggles between between the host and being a fan, and kind of verges on that anti one team situation.

England are used to dominating territory and possession in most international and club scenarios.

It is noticebly better analysis in england. For instance the goal we conceded against england they had pens all over the screen explaining what went wrong and what egypt did telling me where players should go compared to where they did

He also speaks English and Spanish fluently (and he also knows a bit of Arabic, his Algerian mum’s native language, and probably also some Duala, his Cameroonian dad’s native language). If he answers in French it’s because the question was asked in French, not because he can’t speak English.

Fluency in other languages varies a lot within the Bleus. Interestingly, despite his high profile, Ousmane Dembélé isn’t good at English (he personally admitted this), but he is fluent in Spanish (as well as obviously Pulaar, the language he speaks with his Senegalese family, and French).

I had a good think about it and I going for Argentina and the little Messi.
I know they have won one already but HEY , So have Spain.

I think those images of a young Messi playing with Ronaldinho, Eto, Iniesta, Xavi, Puyol, Alves and the multiple stop over World Class strikers that they had every season has left a mark on me. I think he deserves to leave a good mark on the World Cup when he is done.

Argentina haven't really been that convincing during the latter stages of this World Cup cycle though and Spain will be the biggest test for them in their quest to win back-to-back titles.

Argentina were very lucky to get the job done over teams like Cape Verde, Egypt and England during their World Cup campaign though and most of the time had to come from behind to win their matches.

One team just hogs the ball and puts you to sleep while the other refuses to play until it suits them. Both swarm the ref and can't accept a decision.

Hopefully and early goal forces both teams to play more openly.
 
Reports of delays for journalists getting in. MetLife is such a shit place. SoFi wouldn't have these issues.
